Ithicus
Ithicus is an ancient Korrian city that has been lost to the waves. Located on a small island near Thrakis, Ithicus was home to both humans and Tritons.
Some legends say that during the Godwar, the people of Ithicus sided with Jahar, and were punished for their misplaced allegiance. When Jahar was banished to the underworld, the entire city was dragged down into the sea, tearing a hole in the fabric between this world and the one below. Both the event of the fall, and the resulting deep void are known as Jahar's Descent.
Recent archaeology states that the destruction of Ithicus was actually much later, occurring closer to the time of Pereon's conquest north. This theory posits that Jahar was already banished at this time and that the destruction of the island was caused by cultists who were attempting to free the banished god. If this theory is true, it could mean the legendary Heroes of Ithicus may have actually existed, and should be credited with preventing the release of the dark god Jahar, despite the resulting destruction of the island.
The main city is believed to have been dragged entirely into the underworld, but many of the outlying structures still exist as ruins beneath the waves.
The surviving tritons abandoned the city and founded the fortress city of Natathys to protect the people of the land from the horrors of the Descent.
The story of Jahar's Descent, as well as the terrible monsters that now emerge from the void instilled a deep fear of the sea in the people of Vandrius, and traditional religious doctrine warns against going too far out to sea.
