Elves are a long lived race of mortals that were created by the
Curse of Mortality. They founded the first major mortal city of
Myth'thelyn and discovered the
Spellstone of Myth'thelyn, being the first to harness magic. After the
Spelldeath, many elven civilizations either died out completely, unable to cope with a life without magic, or put up great barriers and an adopted a xenophobic mindset. When magic was finally returned to Verdun, elves slowly began to re-enter the social fabric and become prominent political players.

Subraces
Also known as the Myth'iro in the elven language, Moon Elves are one of the oldest race of elves. They can be recognized by their pale blue-tinted skin and brilliant silver hair. Few Myth'iro are ever seen outside their home of
Myth'thelyn.
Also known as the Sur'iro in the elven language, Sun Elves are the friendliest of the elven subraces with a number of grand settlements located near the equator. They can be recognized by their darker brown skin and jet black hair. The most prominent Sur'iro settlement is
Sur'thelyn on the southwest coast of
Askalda, which was nearly destroyed during the
Spelldeath, but has since made a significant recovery after magic was restored.
Also know as the Tel'iro in the elven language, Wood Elves are the most insular of the elven subraces. Developing in more temperate regions of Verdun, they favor heavily wooded areas for the natural cover and seclusion they provide. Since the end of the
Spelldeath, the Wood Elves revere nature and divine magic to the exclusion of arcane, believing it to be an aberrant, unnatural use of power.
Also known as the Elin'iro in the elven language, White Elves are strong and hearty, much like their southern Sun Elf cousins. White Elves inhabit the frigid polar regions of the far north and south of Verdun. They suffered substantial losses after the
Spelldeath due to the hostility of the land and the lack of magical assistance.
Dark Elf
Also known as teh Von'iro in the elven language. TBD
