Old High Imperial

An ancient tongue that has long since fallen silent, Old High Imperial was the common language used during the age of the great empire.

History

Old High Imperial is believed to have served as both the spoken tongue and offical script of the First Empire of Vestria.
During the Draconic War and the subsequent dissoluntion of the empire, the language fell out of fashion as the seperate kingdoms developed their individual cultures over the centuries. A dead language now, Old Imperial is exclusively taught as a common script of the Church of Rosaris and its stations across the continent. 

Lore

While the spoken language has mostly faded to time, the written language remains studied even outside of the Church.
Part of the reason for this is that many theorize that the script was used by lost races such as ancient dragons and their kin as accounts of the races end with fall of the Empire. This connection has lead some t nickname the language 'Dragonscript'.

Occurance And Study

Today, Old High Imperial is found almost exclusive in the ancient texts that survived the Empire's fall and subsequent centuries now cared for by the Church's archivists. Outside of that, the language is also found on rare occasions on relics unearthed through dwarven ruins and other archeological discoveries.
It is because of the later that familiarity with Old Imperial is made part of the curriculum for members of the Rosar Knights assigned with exploration and protection of said ruins.
