Cereus

Deep in the depths of an unknown abandoned facility, is a dormant creature that grew sentience. A mutated cactus species that calls itself Cereus with a thirst for life. Using its influence to talk with plant life and its limited psychic abilities, it patiently waits to see the light of day once more and take revenge on the ancient gardeners who left it for dead.

Y'know, there's some things that even I don't know about. But, I've heard rumours. Yeah, rumours about dangerous things. Experiments going wrong creating all sorts of abominations against nature and that. Given what we do here, it's not such a far stretch really. But, rumours are just that, rumours.

Dehydrate – With its roots deep in the ground below, it drains the water and nutrients of up to three creatures it can see. Ranged 1d6 damage, chance to double damage on a critical hit.
Grow – Mimicking its creators, Cereus brings to life cactus creatures that are loyal to it. Spawns one Awakened Cactus, HP/DS: 12, Brute: +1, Defence +1, Slam: 1d6 melee damage, Thorny Throw: 1d6 ranged damage.
Invasive Thought – With its ability to speak in the mind of creatures, it sends a fearful message into one target. Psychic attack with a chance to Frighten.
Slam – With its thick stumps for hands, Cereus slams its fists towards a target in range. 1d10 melee damage, chance to bleed on a critical hit.
Thorny Grip – Cereus uses its thorny hands to grab the nearest target in range and keep them trapped. 1d4 melee damage, chance to bleed on a critical hit.

The Ancient Gardeners

15 years ago, in a secret laboratory underneath the deserts of Cytal, Dr Otaz Coyne was working on a new potion that would allow desert travellers to to stay hydrated for longer. During his experiments though, one of the cactus specimen mutated creating a new form of life. A creature that grew rapidly in nature and absorbed the nutrients of other creatures. Dr Coyne deemed the creature called Cereus to be let loose onto the world and ordered all members of staff to vacate the premises. Once everyone had gone, he sacrificed himself and brought the laboratory to the ground with a series of explosions. Burying it deep under the sands in the hopes it keep Cereus at bay.
