Beasts are living creatures that do not belong to the Races of the world. They are spawned forms of life, abominations and their bodies as well as their minds are broken, making them a threat to the rest of the world.
HISTORY OF BEASTS
All creatures were created by the Sentinel. During the 1st Age and the battle of the Gods, the Sentinel created the Races as well as the Beasts. However, unlike the Races, the Sentinel created the Beasts in despair, under the pressure of the peak of the battle and in the weakest state, resulting in the forging of terrible life forms that were not meant to be. Once it began however, the creatures roamed the world of Vitallia and spread terror and panic to the rest of the people.
ENVIRONMENT
All beasts spawn from the Crater in the center of the world where the Meteor originally landed. However, there are numerous warrens that connect the Crater with the rest of the world. These warrens are called “Veins” and serve as tunnels for monsters to dig their way out to the surface. That said, all beasts are hatched within Amber bubbles located in the earth. The Amber, being indestructible, bursts open on its own when the beast is ready to hatch and a new monster emerges.
BEAST CYCLES
All beasts are connected with the Sentinel directly. The Sentinel’s power is altered by certain patterns over the course of a full year, resulting in various effects and phenomena, altering the landscape and the atmosphere of the world. All beasts are connected with these cycles and therefore directly affected. There are two types of Cycles and all beasts fall into either of these cateogries.
HALF CYCLE
Half Cycle beasts must hibernate during most of the year. They withdraw to their warrens and remain beneath the surface until Winter when they emerge again to roam the world.
FULL CYCLE
Full Cycle beasts do not hibernate. They have the ability to remain at the surface of the world and thus, are unaffected by the phenomena.
EVOLUTION
As time progresses, beasts and monsters have become a significant part of the world. The Races of Vitallia have learnt to use them for food, catalysts, mounts and other resources. Certain beasts have also developed fragments of sentience and even skill in various aspects. Many societies have included beasts within their culture and others even consider them sacred and under their protection.
