Kirihes

A Kirihes is the commander of a Tano (400 troops). Similar to a general or company leader.

Qualifications

A Kirihes can be chosen for any reason the Lord pleases. They can spend weeks reviewing relevant dossiers, or give the title to the first person they bump into.   A Kirihes is usually chosen based on the following:   Advanced combat training, or equivalent results in a combat test. At least basic tactical training or equivalent proof of tactical mastery. Leadership skills displayed in actual battles. Firearms training (in the modern age) As a bare minimum a Kirihes must be able to read and write in order to effectively do his/her job.

Requirements

Must be a citizen of the Mregian Empire.   Must pass a background check.   Must be over 18 years old.

Appointment

A lord will choose a Kirihes out of his own army or another lords army, assuming they aren't already a Kirihes.   When chosen, a new Kirihes must undergo a background check, and take a pledge to serve the Empire first, Lord second, and army last.

Duties

A Kirihes is in command of 400 soldiers (4 kods) and is expected to relay commands from the Lord effectively to the Setiks of each Kod. Other than simply commanding these four-hundred, a Kirihes must assure the soldiers are a capable fighting force. Communication with the Setiks is key.   A Kirihes must report to the lord about the armys' readiness for battle, casualties, illnesses, or new troops. They must also work with other Kirihes to achieve victory in battle.

Responsibilities

A Kirihes may command the army in any way they like, either letting the Setiks handle the nitty gritty details by giving general orders, or planning meticulously and giving more in depth briefing for each Setiks company. As long as it achieves victory.   The Kirihes must also assign each company their equipment and company type, from heavy arms to shock assault, their equipment and skill must reflect this, and the Kirihes must make sure of that.   The Kirihes, above all else, must defend the lord from death, as this will may destabilise a territory, and put him/her out of a job.

Benefits

Kirihes's get a large raise to their salary, (90,000-130,000 clauds per year) free and improved housing for immediate family members and themself, and a choice of advanced training options relevant to their rank. Kirihes often get housing in their Lords territories, free of charge, if available. Kirihes's may enter level 3 secured areas and provinces, and if they are a non Nylicertian they may migrate there with immediate family members.

Accoutrements & Equipment

If a Kirihes was previously a Setik, they may keep their weapon and armour, or can choose to get a slightly improved equivelant.
  • Usually a Kirihes switches to a lighter armour since they won't see much combat. They have access to any weaponry or equipment in the lords arsenal. Each Kirihes can look quite different depending on their preferences. They don't usually have ALMs, but some may use one if they want.
  • The Kirihes' armour is decorated according to their Royal Territory colours and crest, along with the crest of the Lord they belong to. (For example, their lord might belong to the Nyrivus Royal Territory, so will usually be coloured accordingly. If camouflague is needed the crest will remain.) They may have a full cloak, cape, or just a small swatch of fabric to signify their rank.   If they don't already have a sword, one will be made for them in whatever form they like, be it a saber or a longsword. (usually a saber, as it's lighter.) The sword, along with the cloak/cape act as their badge, and identify their rank. Each Kirihes Sword is inscribed with a word and number, and can be looked up in the military database to confirm identity.

    Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

A Kirihes can be removed for any reason by their lord, or a higher authority, but they have the right to defend themselves against this by initiating a duel, or asking a higher authority for protection.
