General Summary
Why is Harold Like This?
- Harold tested his new web spell on the staircase, to the chagrin of Alton who could not make his way through them.
- Harold went off to find Gim, as a spider shaped blood drop fell from his crown.
Traps and Trickery
"How were you able to stay invisible for so long?" "Trade secret!" ... "... if you want to stay on the ship, you have to pay by sharing the secret." "That's not how secrets work." "It's a trade secret, so you can trade it for passage on the ship." "Ok, that makes sense."
- Alton sought out Ryltar and attempted to press him on who he had pissed off, who was chasing him? Ryltar had expressed concern that his sister could be hurt if she stayed with them.
- Ryltar revealed that he had foiled a powerful vampire lady's plans in the rain forest, and killed one of her daughters. She had apparently taken control of one of the cottages the dinosaur hunters would rest in. His family had company ties, and he had caught on to the signs. He referred to her as a vampire queen.
- Ryltar seemed upset that Alton kept insinuating that he was physically weak.
- Alton asked for Wyn's favourite food to try to lure her out of hiding. Meanwhile, he gave Fernando a mirror, claiming it could make him beautiful in the dark. Fernando was skeptical but persuaded to try it.
- While Fernando was distracted, Wyn did not take the bait and remained hidden. Alton and Harold were eventually able to find and catch the girl.
- Alton considered giving the girl a dagger
- Harold convinced the girl to show them how she managed to stay invisible for so long as payment for travelling on the ship, although she claimed to have money. She denied being a thief when Alton questioned her.
- She introduced herself as Syviswyn Lyveanar. Ryltar called her Wyn.
A Warforged!
- Rust wanted to question Wyn on what she knew about warforged.
- When Rust grabbed her, she tried to kick him and pulled out Alton's dagger, which he had not actually given her. She denied having stolen it.
- Wyn said that she heard warforged were cool metal men who were good at protecting things and some of them were in the company and they fought bad guys... meanwhile, some worked with the demon devil guy and were bad.
The Child May Have Potential
- Alton gifted Wyn his old piwafwi. She commented that uncle Daario used to have one like it. He was grumpy, but made really tasty soup. He was a chef. He went away and wasn't coming back.
- During the conversation, Alton retrieved the dagger.
- Alton asked Wyn which neighbours Ryltar knew, and learned that Ryltar had been close to one Celia. She had been with Ryltar and Dario and was also not coming back.
- Ryltar left the room.
- Wyn once more had Alton's dagger.
- Wyn questioned Harold about why he had "pixie wings".
Fernando is Still Cursed
- Fernando expressed concern that Alton's mirror was broken as he had suddenly transformed into a hideous night hag and had no proper clothes to match it.
- He wanted to to break the mirror.
- Alton admitted to his lie. Fernando was shocked. "We are room mates Alton! There is no closer bond. How could you lie to me?"
- Fernando went to find help from the captain and Krumbleton.
Surprise Tragic Backstory
- Having realized that Ryltar may have lost everyone he loved to the vampire queen he was afraid of, Alton went looking to apologize for his earlier questioning.
- Ryltar revealed that, after he had exposed the vampire queen, whose name was Myviira, he had gone to investigate some possibly human ruins with Celia, his lover, and some others.
- While he was passed out drunk after an argument, Myviira turned every member of his party and waited for him to wake up. Then she waited for him to find them, commented how they were always so hungry when they first woke up, and left Ryltar to fight and run from his friends.
- Ryltar was forced to kill Celia. Her family blamed him, and made an attempt on his life.
- He had gone to the Halls of Thor and Milor to get away from everyone. His mother wanted him to come home. He felt useless and weak.
- Alton consoled Ryltar. This was not his specialty.
- Alton felt that his bow considered Ryltar an acceptable target when he mentioned he had family in the company. His bow was no longer interested by the end of this conversation.
- Alton promised to deal with the vampires.
- Meanwhile, Wyn tried to show Rust how to steal a dagger. Rust comforted the child, though he could not understand her. He then helped her ride on Panda, to her delight.
Captain, where are you?
- The captain received a sending message.
