Plotting Theft 8/1/2458-9/1/2458
General Summary
I'm a siege weapon now captain!
Special Delivery
- Farren attempted to head north to the waterfall to deliver the message he had been given. He found that the waterfall would be difficult to pass nearest the Halls of Thor and Milor.
- He found a pensive Rust.
- Farren asked the merchant running the local Different Strings shop and learned that there was a gate a bit to the northeast in Gaulgrastar.
- Farren was also informed that, unless he was a vampire, he would likely be allowed through the gate.
Alton Dodges a Book
- Alton went up to a random drow on the street who had his nose in a book.
- The stranger attempted to whack Alton with the book (no title, could be a journal or something) when Alton surprised him. He claimed that he had thought Alton was someone else. He further said that Alton had very long hair, despite having hair of almost the same length.
- The slightly awkward drow said his name was Ryltar. He apparently came from Caiaryn. He was staying as a guest in the Little Palace, sort of working but unemployed. He claimed to know a little magic.
- Ryltar revealed that Dimir was the Storm Giant Paramount.
- Ryltar seemed very interested when Alton mentioned Auroliryn, seeming to recognize the name and wondering how Alton had got there.
- Ryltar promised to send Alton a message later, so that they could discuss further.
Harold is Popular
- Farren and Rust ran into Alton in the market and headed to the halls of Thor and Milor when they heard people chanting Harold's name. There they found Big Harold and his new friends.
- Farren found that Dimir was the storm giant paramount. He was seated at the end of one of the tables.
- Alton attempted to sneak up on Dimir but was noticed about 30ft away.
- The captain managed to down a giant sized glass of wine.
- Alton did not manage to drink a giant sized glass of wine.
- Rust found someone who spoke a little aquan.
Dimir
Hey! Dimir! These losers want a word with you!
- Farren was informed that it would be rude to approach Dimir with any ceremony in the Halls of Thor and Milor.
- Dimir told a confusing tale of Thor who took the form of a dragon and landed amid Milor's vineyard. Milor hurled lighting at him, which angered the disguised god. Thor threatened to destroy the vineyard. However, Milor was summoned to a war as the frost giants in the north had broken some kind of oath and were attacking. A challenge was issued with the fate of the vineyard on the line. Something about whoever could slay the most ice giants? At the end of the fight, Thor was victorious. Ever poised, even in defeat, Milor offered Thor a glass of wine. Thor was so impressed with the taste that he chose to spare the vineyard. Not only that, but having bonded during the fight, Thor declared Milor a friend. He offered his divine protection to the storm giants who had been so long separated from their own gods. When Milor ascended, the Halls of Thor and Milor were built to honour both of them.
- Thor had apparently given Dimir's ancestor his gauntlets and also belt.
- Dimir was happy to show Farren the gauntlets but seemed to change the subject quickly when the belt was mentioned. Alton Wanders Off
- Alton went off by himself to scout out Dimir's home when Dimir left the hall.
- Valkyrie sitting outside Dimir's room near one of the guards and the ghost of a giant standing with his arms crossed atop the tower.
- There were many tempting treasures, including a nice bow in one of the giants' rooms. It was not giant sized.
- There was an agreement on Dimir's floor relating to a trade with the Lythini remnant. It was mostly related to food. The relationship seemed to be good.
- There was a journal under the rug in Dimir's room. The only thing Alton could see was a map of territory near the Circle of Luin with several marks and an area circled.
- In the office there were many giant documents, including a stone tablet in the chest in the room.
- One of the small elvish books seemed to be about a war between the sky elves and the storm giants.
Farren Tries to Ask a Simple Question
- When Dimir was leaving, Farren got his attention by revealing they knew of Brevir. He wanted to know if Brevir, the fool, had found the Cloud Giants.
- Farren tried to convince a sleepy Thelar to bring them back to the ship. Unfortunately, Thelar was too tired to travel properly.
- Harold, Farren, Rust, and Thelar first wound up in a grey, cold land, where the trees were mostly dead and the rivers rand blood red. Undead seemed to be rising around them as they ran away back through the tree. Thelar identified the area as Almacarnye.
- They then wound up in a jungle like area with a boat, with a sail. There was also a cottage. It was occupied by a single buff dark elf who said his name was Tolo.
- They decided to stay the night.
- Rust annoyed Thelar so much (by pinching and tickling his nose) that Thelar melted into the granite countertop to sleep.
- Harold and Tolo told each other stories of their great deeds that neither understood. (Something about a pterodactyl dropping him into a nest of snakes.
- In the morning, Tolo told the captain that he had only met Thelar once, when he had given him a ride back from the deep jungle. Apparently he had been on that hunt, and there had been a spikey dinosaur, a large spider, and a tree that had nearly fallen on top of Tolo. He claimed he had taken the danger out himself.
- Tolo ferries hunters to and from Caiaryn and the Golgri Rainforest.
- In the morning Thelar emerged from the countertop and brought Rust, Harold and Farren back to the ship.
Krumbleton?
- Harold was most upset when Farren dispelled magic on him so he would shrink back to normal size.
- Rayne returned Krumbleton but forgot Gore the Barbarian and went to fetch him.
- Farren convinced Krumbleton to cast speak with dead on Brevir to ask if Brevir had found out what happened to the cloud giants. Brevir had not.
- Rust went to start work on the ballista and was upset when he was interrupted.
- With Krumbleton in tow, the party regrouped in the Halls of Thor and Milor.
- Harold was searching for Goltag and trying to get someone to re-enlarge him.
"We went to a dark forest with a blood river, went to a forest, met a dark elf. He said something about dinosaurs... don't know what looks like dragon " "a dark elf?" "no, the dinosaurs."
