Alton meets Rayne, Again
Krumbleton Finds Something Suspicious
- Amid his cooking supplies, Krumbleton found what appeared to be a saltshaker. Tasting it's contents, he tasted the most delicious thing he had ever tasted.
- Crunch identified the substance as some kind of slow poison or drug.
- Krumbleton considered using it to flavour his dishes but saw that Crunch had concerns. Crunch still agreed that he was Krumbleton's sous chef.
- Krumbleton noticed that Crunch has a kind of white glaze over his eyes.
- With Finn's linguistic help, Krumbleton approached Goltag and asked if there were any forbidden ingredients. Goltag did not seem certain but mentioned "anything endangered" or some kind of poisonous fish that gave him terrible indigestion one time.
- Krumbleton then approached Rayne, who seemed delighted that "his favourite cleric" was asking him a question. Krumbleton informed Rayne that this kind of empty flattery was unnecessary. Nonetheless, Rayne pointed out that he was here to watch Krumbleton. Where was Thor? Krumbleton maintained that Thor was busy in the heavens.
- Rayne confirmed to Krumbleton that the substance he had found was the dust of the stars, and very dangerous. After seven times consuming any amount, one cannot live without it (deadly withdrawal) but continuing to consume it daily will kill a person within a month.
- Rayne asked Krumbleton if he was considering replacing Thor, which Krumbleton denied.
- Krumbleton thanked Rayne and chose not to use the stardust. This was a test, he suspected. Some trickster's doing.
"It wasn't me"
Panda can Fly the Ship
- Since Judy, Mirdock, and Fernando wanted to witness the competition, Rust let Panda hold the ship wheel.
- Wyldo was apparently sleeping below decks and was eager to see Krumbleton "become a god so they could beat Donnie"
- Fernando was worried that Krumbleton was not dressed appropriately and brought him a chef's uniform for the competition.
The Competition
- An elderly storm giant announced the judges;
- Cririon of Ogmothynstar, who smelled like and liked seafood.
- Vezgara of Degarstar, who favoured spicy food
- Goltag, who represented Gaulgrastar as Dimir was a competitor.
- Rillae Lyveanar, a drow representing Caiaryn
- Jodi, representing the hunters of Golgri in the place of Glynberos who was ill.
- Kolvar Luirlan who represented the Lythyni Remnant in the place of Kivessin Cyran who was also ill.
- Fireworks, lightning bolts, and music accompanied the cooking. Harold assisted in this.
- Krumbleton served a salad, with the jumbo shrimp poached by his giant helpers and everything chopped by he and crunch. He called Rust from the stands to assist further with guidance, cooking a potato soup. For the main course, Krumbleton successfully executed Randy's roast goose recipe on the roc Alton had acquired for him.
- Randy contacted Krumbleton, inviting him to an event in Kariva, at what Krumbleton would realize was the former Riverwatch Inn if he were to check a map, in two weeks time.
"Krumbleton Higghops, you are cordially invited to the grand opening of the Pocketwatch by the southwater bridge in two weeks time. Hope to see you there!"
- Krumbleton unlocked the power of Randy's Cookbook.
- Dimir appeared flustered at this point, having trouble tasting his Béarnaise sauce.
- For his part, Dimir served first a tomato and pepper soup, sautéed mushrooms, steak with more mushrooms on top, and then spice cookies.
"But soup is usually a second course... he will look like a fool!"
- Krumbleton finished off with spiced Black Lotus Mead and crème brulée.
- After the judges' deliberation, Krumbleton was declared the victor.
- The ship's crew cheered, the giant's were stunned.
- Vakaros wasted no time in taunting Dimir.
Vakaros Blasphemes
- Vakaros mocked both Dimir and Krumbleton.
- He tried to reveal that Dimir had also lost the belt of Thor.
- He challenged Krumbleton to a 1v1, "or we could make a party out of it", calling Krumbleton short whenever possible.
- Vakaros claimed Thor had left them behind anyways, and that what was left of him was weak.
- Krumbleton chastised Vakaros.
- Dimir demanded Vakaros leave.
- The storm giants were not sure what to make of it, and started gossiping, and threatening Vakaros every now and then.
Victory?
- Dimir seemed upset about something, not necessarily that he had lost.
- He awarded Krumbleton the promised belt.
- He left, fists clenched.
After the Belt! Also Ryltar's Mom Cares About Him
- Realizing that he needed the belt as well, Krumbleton and the party pursued Vakaros.
- They were briefly interrupted by Rillae, who accused them of attempting to scam Ryltar.
- Alton tried to explain that they did have an airship and there was no scam involved.
- Alton stood in stunned silence as Ryltar tried to calm her down and she tried to convince him to come home.
"...and even if they do have a ship, you don't have to run away here, or to some far off continent in the sky. Come home. I know what happened was horrible but it will be alright. If Illyam tries anything again we'll kill them first. " "MOTHER!" "Fine, fine, but you can still come home. There isn't any sense running off with these hooligans."
- Alton then ran away, after the party, almost tripping over a young drow girl who ran to hug Ryltar.
- The party challenged Vakaros, who had met up with two other ice giants and six wolves. He was making fun of Dimir, and said the food would have been just as good raw.
- Farren healed Rust's injuries and then left to fetch Dimir.
- Krumbleton attuned to Thor's Gauntlets.
Dimir is Broken
- Farren was unable to convince Dimir to join the fight. The storm giant seemed broken, and a bit of a wimp.
- Apparently, Vakaros's family had betrayed the storm giants at some point in the past and Vakaros had done nothing to make amends. When Dimir extended an olive branch, Vakaros made off with the belt.
- Vakaros apparently fancies himself as king of the world and has no respect for the ordning.
- Dimir did summon a roc to assist Farren, claiming he had to see to his people instead.
- Farren was disappointed but rode the roc back to the party.
- Farren claimed that Dimir saw Vakaros as not worth his time, but Vakaros called Dimir a coward.
- Dimir also gave Farren some information on Vakaros
- He is stronger than a regular frost giant, though he does not possess the full might of Thor (the belt is not giving him its full strength)
- His weapon is cold
- Watch how he moves, stay out of his way. He will not wait his turn and he will mow down anyone in his path, especially beings of your stature.
- If you engage him, do not try to run away; he will not let you.
- One of his greatest strengths will be his command of his allies. He may be a fool, but he is the Jarl and they respect him.
Mana Potions
- Rust purchased a number of mana potions from Crunch, and ignored the cautionary warning label, imbibing five of them
- Rust incurred two levels of magical madness and is giggling strangely.
- Rust did not receive endless magic but was also not possessed by a demon.
Fight?
- Vakaros, his two ice giant companions and a remorhaz stand to face the party.
