The Treasure Room

General Summary

Getting Down to the Mirror

  • Wyldo was adamant that he be the first in the treasure room, despite well founded suspicions that Donnie was already inside and he had lost the bet according to the terms they had both signed.
  • Wyldo did non have any potions of water breathing left. He had only brought two for himself, assuming that the party would have prepared something for themselves.
  • Harold volunteered to return to the ship to ask if Crunch could supply them with some potions. However, the party did not want to waste time, fearing that the frost giants might get reinforcements, that Donnie might be in trouble, or worse, that Donnie might escape with all the treasure.
  • Rust pulled Wyldo down to the bottom, giving the old man one of the giant's helmets to hold an air bubble for the trip.
  • Harold grabbed an armful of oversized weapons to weigh him down and held his breath.
  • The captain just hopped in, in his armour, and held his breath.
  • Placing a palm to the mirror transported the party into the room on the other side.

The Entry Room

  • On the other side, the mirror leading back to the lake was smaller (only about 10 ft tall). It was unceremoniously leaned against a large chair. The chair itself looked like it was made of a split ribcage.
  • The walls were lined with twelve large chests, each weighing 300 pounds. They were identified as massive chests of holding but were sealed so long as they remained on that side of the mirror.
  • Behind the chair was a tapestry depicting a fleet of airships against silver clouds.
  • In one corner of the room was another chest, overflowing with gold and platinum, some jewelry, and the Key of Worlds. Behind the chest, dried up roots poked through the wall.
  • There were six stained glass fragments hung on the wall. One depicted a sad elven man. Another an elven woman standing holding up a star surrounded by other elves, similar to one of the tapestries that had been used as a carpet. The third depicted a dragon, proud and strong. This one was a different style. The other three depicted the sun, moon, and stars.
  • There was a carpet on the ground. Beneath it were several layers of tapestries that were dirty and bloodied and had been used as carpet despite being spelled to be resistant to degradation. It was like someone had just dropped a new one every time it had gotten dirty.
  • Donnie left a note for Wyldo, but Alton came to the conclusion that it must have been wrong.
Wyldo,   While I would wait for you to show you the treasure that I found first, this fractured ruin is just brimming with things to explore. The sign on the door says it is "locked" but it is open - probably because of the antimagic effect in here. If there is no such effect, it may be because you moved the hammer that was creating the seal. I am not sure about that. I am not sure how far the field extends either. I will need to go and investigate.   <3 Donnie     p.s. There is a good chance everything in here is terribly cursed. Please, please do not pick anything up without inspecting it. p.p.s. If any of those large oafs go accusing me of "murder", they are misinformed. It is just my luck that I cannot go for more than a month without someone accusing me of You know what, never mind. Just know that their men just kind of turned to ashes after trying to move the hammer for me for a while.   p.p.p.s. You really are taking your time. I guess I did not need to hurry after all.   p.p.p.p.s. If you need to find my crew, I sent them back to that company ruin you told me about. The giants were giving them trouble and one of my mages went missing in the night.   p.p.p.p.p.s I have gone to investigate the forge.

  • When Alton handed Rust the Key of Worlds, Rust spaced out, and Farren grabbed it.
And with this, the key of worlds, we will go forth and conquer new lands, and bring home the power to start and win a new war. To that end, I have hired a new admiral...
  • All bags of holding seemed to be sealed in the mirror.
  • There was a symbol, similar to three of the stained glass images etched on the door. There was a pattern drawn on it in very old blood.
  • The party attempted various patterns on the door but it did not unlock. Farren and Krumbleton briefly noted symbols appear on their weapons when they looked for them specifically.
  • Krumbleton bashed the door in with his hammer.

Harold Stays Behind

  • Harold remained behind as the party followed Wyldo further into the building.
  • He dumped all the chests outside the mirror.
  • After a while, seeking a pretty face, he noticed a dark lady, who was neither Donnie nor Ryltar's mother, appear outside the mirror.
  • She came inside and listened to his tale of Nananana and singlehandedly felling Vakaros and singlehandedly fighting the frost giant army while escaping with his treasure. She claimed to have come from somewhere to the east. Her kingdom was destroyed by an angry vampire, then she was chased out of her new home by some low life who murdered her daughter Maura. However, she still had people who relied on her and would be completely lost without her leadership. She gifted Harold a necklace which cast alter self on him, allowing him to grow gills.
Some people call me... Myvi.
  • The drow lady left.
  • Harold grew to gargantuan size and carried five of the chests to the surface.
  • He attempted to fly them to the ship, but they were too heavy and unwieldly for his wings.
  • He managed to get to the shore of the lake and began to walk back to the ship on foot.

Andichar's Bedroom

  • Farren managed to detect Donnie's goggles in the vicinity and led the party to another room.
  • After breaking down the door, he was hit my a fire trap but recovered.
  • The room contained a bed with luxurious but dust covered blankets, a desk with two bookcases mostly filled with ledgers, a taxidermied elk, a taxidermied elf, and a garden with three tree stumps, one skeleton, two pedestals with skulls, a kneeling suit of armour, and two blossoming rose bushes.
  •  Farren found a notebook which he could not read but that contained an image like the one on the locked door, and a similar one with two additional lines. He used this to unlock the remaining doors in this room.
  • Alton found mention of Lythienne in Andichar's notes. According to this, Andichar had a low opinion of Qivrin Kels, who gave him "this castle". Additionally, Qivrin Kels thought himself the reincarnation of Lythienne's brother.
  • Alton's bow did not have good feelings of the area. She remembered something.

And Then They Split the Party

  • Farren then walked past a forge and altar to find Donnie. He attempted to convincer her that she had not won but she seemed adamant that she was certain they were coming and had gotten there first and hence had won.
  • Wyldo wanted to discuss something privately with Donnie.
  • Farren left them to walk up some stairs to find a spooky room. It was filled with holes, in between walls, in the floor, in the furniture. Above, darkness stretched on. He left a trail of sesame seeds, which he used to find his way back to the door when the room prevented him from walking in a straight line. Also, he detected undead in the room but no one attacked him.
  • Alton sensed his bow hyper focus on something nearby and snuck off to investigate. He found the entry room bereft of Harold and the treasures. Meanwhile, his bow was no longer concerned.
  • Alton returned to speak with Farren, plucking a rose on his way. It looked to be the most beautiful rose he had ever seen but smelled like nothing. He noticed the sharp thorns and tested them, pricking his finger and immediately forgot about it. It looked to be the most beautiful rose he had ever seen but it had very sharp thorns. It looked like he had already poked himself on one.
  • Rust took the helmet off the kneeling knight (whose armour did not appear elvish). Beneath it were more roses. Rust put the helmet on and was flooded by painful memories that were not his, causing him physical pain. He then immediately took the kneeling knight's sword.
  • Rust then noticed the hidden glass memory in the garden and went to activate it as his party, minus Harold who was out in the cold, ran to see why he had screamed.
