General Summary
Rest Up
- Unable to find the mysterious individual Eliza had seen approach Braa, the party resumed their rest.
- In the morning, Braa attempted to reconcile with Eliza
- Eliza indicated that she had been somehow traumatized by humans.
- Sky Elves where Eliza is from apparently do not shake hands.
- The group resumed travel, following both the path and the owl.
More Abandoned Carts
- The group came upon even more abandoned carts.
- There were roots through the wheels
- The carts were mostly empty, picked clean of whatever they had been carrying
- There was some sign of a struggle, but no sign of any bodies.
- Beerum found one carriage with a compartment underneath a bench that still had some warm blankets and a pair of nice boots. Within the boots, he found a finely carved but weathered on one side statuette of a dwarf.
Perfectly Normal Forest Animals
- Eliza, having transformed into a bloodhound, caught a whiff of wolves in the air
- Eliza claimed to have had a bad experience with wolves in a past life.
- The party at first attempted to ignore the wolves - after all, wolves in the area was pretty normal.
- A wolf scout was spotted further down the path. Eliza reluctantly tried to talk to it.
- The wolf did not seem interested in Eliza. The wolf did seem interested in Beerum.
- Beerum attempted to bribe the wolf with beef jerky and was mostly successful
- The wolf wanted the statuette for its master.
- With the power of beef jerky, to Eliza's chagrin, Beerum and Eliza peersuaded the wolf to bring them to his master.
- Braa and "Penelope" continued down the path, following the owl
- Beerum and Eliza found that the "master" was apparently missing
- The wolves, while not tame, seemed at least somewhat used to dealing with people (or getting bribed by people)
- Beerum distracted the wolves with more jerky and he and Eliza returned to the path.
- Meanwhile, Braa and "Penelope" came across a black bear.
- They attempted to sneak up to it and then "Penelope" tossed her rations into the woods.
- The bear ignored the food and charged towards the two of them, making bear sounds.
- The bear clawed at Braa.
- Braa attempted to cast a spell on the bear, causing it to laugh hysterically.
- Braa and "Penelope" ran away, remarking that the spell probably shouldn't have worked. It must have been a particularly smart bear.
- While hiding behind a rock, they heard someone pass by.
Mud
- "Penelope" and Braa encountered a stretch of the path that was extremely muddy. This was strange as it hadn't rained recently and it was not near the water.
- Braa started trekking through the mud.
- They noticed signs of footprints, and drag marks in the mud
- "Penelope" chose to go around the mud. Braa followed.
- They stopped to rest when the path was clear again.
- Braa discussed renegotiating his share of the gold
- Beerum and Eliza found a black bear sitting on the ground, staring vacantly upwards. It looks like it has been deprived of its sexual energy Eliza
- Beerum poked the bear I'm poking the bear Beerum
- The bear did not move
- Eliza spoke to the bear. It cried the life was meaningless
- Eliza determined that the bear was broken
- When asked who had done this, the bear claimed it had been "the druid lady with the beautiful beard"
- Eliza and Beerum left the bear and found the same stretch of mud that "Penelope" and Braa had found.
- Beerum led Eliza around the mud, following "Penelope"'s footsteps
- Beerum and Eliza found Bra and "Penelope".
Nufubela
- The groupd encountered a bearded dwarven woman with a maul riding a pony in the opposite direction
- She warned them of the ghosts
- She claimed the ghosts would not bother her as they only troubled "liars and thieves"
- They showed Nufubela the dwarf statue. She claimed it was the rightful property of Barivol Shatterdhelm and that she would return it.
- Beerum rejected this offer.
- Nufubela left, somewhat displeased, though she wished them well.
Snowbyrd's Crossing
- The group arrived in Snowbyrd's Crossing.
- There were three taverns quickly visible, the Deep Raccoon, the Jolly Bees inn and tavern, and Ye Olde Goat.
- Beerum went shopping, stocking up on beef jerky.
- "Penelope" went to the smith, looking for a weapon upgrade. She wanted to fire multiple shots with her crossbow.
- The smith, a sturdy dwarf, did not thing the weapon was very exciting. It was also not his expertise. He did, however, have another someone had traded in and suggested "Penelope" double her fire rate, by using two of them.
- "Penelope" tried to haggle, and then tried to steal the weapon when she was unsuccessful.
- She considered murdering the smith but decided not to.
- Braa went on a tour of the bars, looking for information. He garnered a small amount of gold for performing.
- Braa met a dwarf named Muli Flintbrand, who told him that Snowbyrd's Crossing was so named because a giant bird, the size of ten/twenty/thirdy dwarves, had crushed the town's signpost long ago, and destroyed the town. Muli also claimed it was his ancestor who felled the beast, the size of forty dwarves! They built a new town not long after.
- Braa also heard tales of a cursed copper mine not far away, and some old abandoned forts left from wars long ago. Human made, though not Vyran.
- Eliza followed the owl to the Clocktower
- Eliza spoke to a receptionist who told her that Volmel Silverbead managed imports and exports.
- In conversing with the bird, Eliza found that this was not the bird's boss, and eventually discovered that she was looking for someone called Heggalin, who had an office on the fourth floor.
- Heggalin was worried for his financial well being, as he had lost countless goods along with many workers and merchants.
- Eliza tried to persuade Heggalin to let her see his employee records, but he refused as they were confidential. She elaborated that she was looking for the bird's son, but he thought she was joking or crazy.
- Eliza did not hear when Heggalin accidentally dropped that she should not bother Malgana's son.
- Eliza attempted to flirt with Heggalin. Heggalin rejected her ... advances... informed her he did not wish for her to eat his squirrels as he was a vegetarian, and locked her out of the office.
- Eliza did pay attention to the cabinet he glanced at and the key ring on his belt.
- The party regrouped and the Jolly Bees
- Beerum managed to decipher the owl scratching it's name into the table.
- The bartender said that Malgana had been among the merchants gone missing, though he did not know her son personally.
