General Summary
"I hope you enjoy breakfast as much as I do."
The Vamp Escapes and Captain Farren Comforts Zuktern
- Harold attempted to bring down the vampire but was not able to kill her.
- The vampire moved to hug the death kiss and uttered a word, vanishing immediately - presumably recalling straight back to Haryk's Retreat.
- Beau walked off the flying carpet, taking only minimal damage from the compelled fall.
- The giant was left behind, still under both the effects of Beau's spell and the vampire's domination.
- Beau released her spell. The giant, not seeing the individual he had been commanded to defend, sat down and stared blankly.
- Captain Farren freed the giant from the vampire using his paladin powers.
- The giant revealed that his name was Zuktern he had been injured in the battle, left for dead. A small cloaked lady had promised to fix him.
- Captain Farren attempted to remove the curse of the many eyes on the giant, but his spell had no effect. He tried to break the news gently to the giant, who did not take it particularly well. He was understandably horrified by his own appearance.
- Captain Farren learned that Jecbar the giant was a cleric of Milor and went to meet with him but was intercepted by Tragir who had come to help deal with the threat Farren had mentioned.
- Tragir's outrage at what had been done to his fellow giant seemed to frighten Zuktern, who fled farther from the city.
- Tragir promised to slay any vampires that dared venture into Gaulgrastar.
- Tragir returned to his warroom to discuss what could be done with Jecbar.
- Captain Farren tracked Zuktern down and consoled him.
- The captain questioned whether Zuketern would fly, which it seemed he could, albeit without exceptional control. He also seemed to emit some kind of bolstering aura while flying.
- Zuktern promised the captain that he would not flee the city.
- Cpatain Farren returned to Tragir and Jecbar. The latter admitted that he had no idea how to deal with the situation and would pray on the matter.
Alton Vs. A Fairly Easy Persuassion Check
- Meanwhile, Alton sought out the local Thieves' guild headquarters. He found it down a secret staircase revealed after "picking the pocket" of a giant statue of the largest of the Thieves Three.
- There were five hooded members within the room: two giants, one large individual, and two elf sized individuals.
- Alton discovered that the theives were aware of an opening to Ogmoithynstar; there was a tunnel in the "river/ocean" floor that demonas and other weird things were using to leave that some of the guild had found and used to escape the city when it was sealed off.
- The largest of the giants seemed to be the leader.
- Alton failed to convince them to reveal the location - they seemed unconvinced that he and his allies could use it effectively.
- Alton pickpocketed a notebook from one of the guild members - a muscular dark elf lady he believed had stared daggers at him at Different Strings. She norted when he grabbed the item.
- The booke appeared to be about spiders, but the disguise was quickly seen through, revealing a number of secret locations. The final few pages contained detailed maps of the Gaulgrastar and Ogmothynstar areas, as well as the location of the hole.
Beau Does Crafting
- Beau considered going to a shop, but remembered the ruins of an old store that had been pointed out to her by Lelwar.
- Beau spent some time searching amidst the rubble and found what she thought she would need.
- Beau returned to the ship to rest and craft.
- Harold returned to the ship to work on his ring.
- Both Beau and Harold slept for eight hours, causing one of the crew members to remark that Beau was "a strange elf"... "like Harold?"
- Beau created a doohicky with mirrors that she could mount to her helmet so she could look through it (and not directly into the eyes of any great white hydrosharks) while keeping her hands free to play music and cast her spells.
Captain Farren Negotiates
- Captain Farren learned, roughly, the recipe for the storm giant enhanced enlarge potion. He also learned that it contains powdered lianyte and should not be overused.
- Captain Farren met with Lelwar and paid the fee for the materials to repair the ship. He was given estimates for the time and cost to repair the ship. When he offered to defeat the cult, Lelwar agreed to do the work for free if he defeated Krahl'Marin.
Bed and Breakfast
- It was very late - the party felt exhaustion threatening to creep in.
- Still giant sized, Captain Farren booked a room inside Traveller's Roost for the night. He was given a ladder in case the potion wore off before breakfast. He was also told by the sleepy storm giant at the desk that breakfast would be at dawnrise.
- Farren prayed to Luin for Zuktern's return to normal.
- Alton and Ryltar also rented a room in the Traveller's Roost. It was quite comfortable, though the distracted sky elf at the desk forgot to mention breakfast.
- Alton suspected that the thieves' guild might pay him a visit in the night and rested with his belongings and the stolen book in his bag of holding under his pillow.
- Neither Alton nor Ryltar noticed anything in their trances, but in the morning, Alton found an elegant bookmark in the notebook that had not been there before.
- Captain Farren awoke as normal sized Farren.
- Drawn by the scent of bacon, Farren, Alton and Ryltar found their way to the dining area, well past dawnrise - they had missed the hour of sun altogether and what other guests there were seemed to have already finished. Still, there was plenty of food left: pancakes, bacon, scrambled dino eggs, bread, a glowing thing that smelled like melon, and shreded dino meat.
- A dark haired, red-eyed, muscular dark elf lady showed up, put her hand around Alton's shoulder, commeneted that he was impressive, promised to rip his head off if he stole from her again, gave him a pat on the back, and left. Alton commented "what a nice lady".
- Alton brought pancakes to offer at a shrine to Aurolyr. His offering was accepted. He also asked if the goddess was single. He received a belessing.
- Farren, watching Alton, brought bacon and eggs to Luin as an offering. This was.... eventually accepted, despite being unconventional. He received a blessing
“So. If this is inappropriate let me know. Are you single? How do … relationships as a god work? This question has just been bugging me. Also wish me luck, killing demons today. Enjoy the pancakes.”
They Sent a Child
- Farren, Alton, and Ryltar overheard a strange conversation and found what appeared to be a young sky elf vampire holding a stuffed bear and a scroll. She mentioned something about fireball if things went poorly and not wanting to die horribly again.
- The vampire identified herself as Ara, just Ara, and claimed to be an emissary from "Mister Raymond and Talbi ... I mean Talabiira". She also claimed she was not a child, had in fact just turned 55, her mission was to deliver the scroll to giant Talabiira had... "saved", that Talabiira was nice - the only one who was nice to her, and that the stuffed rabbit was Burnard.
- Alton was sympathetic, but the captain demanded to know what message she had to deliver. After some persuassion he was allowed to read the scroll which contained instructions for how Zuktern could use his new powers, and also, how to grow more eyes.
- Alton was concerned what would happen to the vampire child if she failed her mission. Ara claimed not to know as it was her first mission.
- Farren persuaded Ara to leave the message with him.
- Ara left, half flying, half short distance teleporting, and moving away at extreme speed.
- Beau arrived on the scene, wearing her new device, to Alton's befuddlement.
- Ryltar seemed disturbed.
- Farren told Alton to stop thinking about the vampire child and led the party to go meet with Zuktern again.
Shut up. Let's go see the giant.
