Kat Chiron's Summer Camp Prep 2024
I'm back. Back after quite a long break from worldbuilding. After catching up on the WA Summer Camp Prep Twitch streams I remembered how much I enjoyed taking part in Summer Camp last year and felt inspired to get back to worldbuilding and taking part in this years Summer Camp! I will go back to the same world - Vryvania: City of Secrets. Last NaNoWriMo I also wrote the first 10,000 words of Season 1 for this world. My plan is to also continue writing this serial fiction and eventually set up a REAM subscription to showcase my work and build a following. The worldbuilding will help me solidify my ideas for this world and act as a series bible to keep everything organised.
So without further ado I'm going to dive into the homework...

Homework - Week 1
Assignment 1
Week 1's Theme is Change so I need to consider what changes are afoot in my world or how past changes have affected the world. The most obvious, is how the ruler of Vyrvania's life has changed since the demise of his wife during the Blood Wrath Moon. They had been together for over a thousand years so there is no way that Garrick Thornwood wouldn't be affected by his loss. Following on from this is the likelihood that Garrick will hand over his rulership because of this, the most likely candidate being his eldest son, Ed. The question is how smooth will this transition be and how will the people and city of Vryvania react to this change. And I'm sure that because Vyrvania is the City of Secrets that change is around every corner.Assignment 2

Assignment 1
Week 2's Theme is Refuge. Refuge can be a place of safety and there are two places in Vyrvania that could be considered a refuge, The Underworld and The Arcane Quarter. The Underworld is where all the Banished, the Half-Blood Shifters and the Revenants, all those considered the rejects of the city of Vyrvania have fleed to. However, the pure-bloods and true-bloods more likely see it as a place of containment. The Arcane Quarter is an area that houses all those that practice magic, mainly beings other than vampyrs. This is because vampyrs aren't able to create and use magic themselves, but they are torn between fear and fascination so an area was created to enable the vampyr to have access to magic in a contained way. However, since Serafina Thornwood's fascination with magic and The Arcane Quarter came to a tragic end, access to magic and The Arcane Quarter is now tightly controlled. Some of the Thornwood family members also have their own places of refuge. Serena often retreats to the lodge that is next to the stables and Joseph now lives above The Crossroads Inn.Assignment 2
I currently follow a lot of people on World Anvil and it's great to see what everyone else's plans are for Summer Camp. I also lurk in the WA Discord channel, but it can be a bit overwhelming with all the activity on there. I was hoping to find a Chapter that I could join for accountability, motivation and support. So, I've requested to join one that seems to tick all the boxes...but still waiting to hear back from them at the moment.Assignment 3
I've been slowly working on the styling and layout of my world, and I'm very interested to learn CSS properly. I will continue to tweak things as and when I get the chance.Homework - Week 3
Assignment 1
Week 3's Theme is Belief. The people of Vyrvania don't follow a religion as such but have faith and trust in Garrick Thornwood as their divine protector and leader. This belief has been shaken somewhat since the death of his wife Serafina, as he has kept out of the limelight for the last fifteen years. Because of this things are changing and the waning faith of the people may be the downfall of Vyrvania as fear and mistrust become more commonplace.Assignment 2

I will use Canva again for images and photos in my world articles. I would also like to create a map but it needs to have a modern urban fantasy feel to it, so I'm not sure how to go about finding something like that. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to leave them in the comments at the bottom of this page.Homework - Week 4
Assignment 1
Week 4's Theme is Decay. Decay might be the most difficult theme to answer prompts to in the world of Vyrvania. At the moment I can only think of it maybe relating to a decline in morality and power of the The Thornwood Dynasty. Hopefully more thoughts will come to me once this theme's prompts are revealed.Assignment 2
I will be having a massive declutter of my writing area over the next week and will see about putting a pic up as proof once the task is completed. I will also make sure my supply of herbal teas, writing craft books, research books and planning tools are to hand.Assignment 3
My Homepage for Vyrvania is currently very minimalist! :D So another job for the next week is for me to work on my Homepage to draw my viewers in and keep them coming back!Assignment 4
If I can fit it in I would also like to complete this assignment too, even though it is aimed at older worlds. I want to overhaul my WA profile page, making it tidier and pointing visitors to my current projects. I also want to promote my work on my IG, X and Facebook social media pages as I will also intermingling WA Summer Camp with Camp Nano.
