Perseus Dynasty

The Perseus Dynasty, also House Perseus was a great and noble rogue trader house. Having obtained its Warrant of Trade shortly following the events of the Apostasy, this noble house has retained its wealth and splendor until relatively recently.

Glory and Wealth

At its peak, under the currently missing Heracles Perseus, the Dynasty commanded a fleet of warp-capable void ships, the flagship of which was the Righteous Indignation. This fleet, as well as Heracles's business acumen and knack for successful exploratory ventures, made the Perseus Dynasty one of the foremost (and wealthiest) of Rogue Trader Houses on Scionis Secundus.   In those glorious days, the word of a Perseus was enough to command great respect amongst nobles not only on Secudus, but throughout the Lux Terminae sector itself. Even the great and minor Adepta of the Imperium vied to secure contracts with the Dynasty, not only due to its reputation for reliable conveyance of goods, but in the hopes of being first in line for new discoveries made by Heracles out in the Halo Stars.

Loss

One such expedition into the Halo Stars was to be the beginning of the Perseus Dynasty's downfall. It was to be his greatest achievement yet - a bounty of unimaginable potential that lay in the midst of a yet-to-be-charted Warp Anomaly. Cooler heads in the family tried to dissuade Heracles from undertaking such a risky venture with so many of the Dynasty's assets, but it was no use.   The fleet which accompanied the Righteous Indignation into the Halo Stars bore much of the Dynasty's wealth in the form of supplies, complex equipment, bonded servants from the Astra Militarum, Adeptus Mechanicus, and other Imperial Adepta. Where existing assets were insufficient, loans were taken out to enable the provisioning of the flotilla.   The fleet was never seen again.

Decline

In the long years following the disappearance of the Righteous Indignation, the Dynasty's fortunes steadily faltered. Deprived of shipping, funds, and most importantly Heracles's financial acumen, the loans taken out to finance the expedition quickly grew and spiraled out of control.   Within the first decade, much of the Dynasty's most precious assets had been sold to ward off a host of ravenous creditors. Like sharks sensing blood in the water, long-forgotten lenders produced credit documents that had not been seen for centuries. Without the Righteous Indignation and its records, nothing could be said against them.   Now, the House is a tattered remnant of its former glories, struggling to live up to its noble lineage even as its fortunes turn to ashes.
