Session 76: Battling the Beasts Report

General Summary

The party meets a werebat that asks them to kill Wyllow. He says the other werebats think she's great, but he wants to eat the forest animals. Also she asked the party to erraticate them. They go to tell the dragon Valdemar that they will join him in fighting Wyllow. They realize that Wyllow has control of the environment of this level of Undermountain and has turned the climate bitterly cold. As they get close to the dragon's platform the party is attacked by giant bats. Cameron Overholt is picked up by a giant eagle and flown straight up in the air. He throws acid on the giant eagle. He is dropped from 60 feet in the air but casts levitate on his way down. The hurt eagle flies away and the party realizes it was Wyllow in wild shape. The party heads into the woods to confront Wyllow. They are attacked by awakened animals, blink dogs, Wyllow's companion displacer beast, and are surrounded by a wall of fire. Wyllow throws fire at them from trees above. Things look bad. The party kills the animals and escape the fire but Wyllow wild shapes into a mammoth and almost kills Cameron. Valdemar shows up to aid the party, killing Wyllow. He then turns on the party, demanding their equipment to leave the level with their lives. The party fight Valdemar, damaging him heavily. As he attempts to escape Thredd Dorselar uses her new sword Tearulai to kill the dragon.
