Session 77: Lost Level Found Report
General Summary
The party has defeated Wyllow and the dragon Valdemar but the bitter cold in Wyllowwood continues on. They head to Wyllow's tower.
Inside the tower, they find a wheel to change the weather. They find some notes on Halaster Blackcloack and his seven apprentices. They find references to Ashardalon, the dragon that once had shards of gem dragons in his heart who was felled by druids. There is a reference to him working with one of Halaster's apprentices. Andryn recalls the party's first adventure in Oakhurst where they saw the ruins of this fight, an ashen plain where nothing grew. The original party found a citidel where kobolds were worshiping Asharladon.
The party loot the tower and the dragon's hoard then rest. The next morning the party see that the werebats have already begun killing the animals of Wyllowwood.
Andryn Stormpeak dances in front of a magical gate the party found near the dragon's hoard, opening a portal to another level where magical darkness surrounds them. They can see with light but only 30 feet around them.
Looking around they realize they are in a dwarven armory. They begin to realize they are in the Lost Level of Undermountain. They worry that the reason this level is lost is because people are locked in. They try to jerry-rig the only doors in this room to stay open. Eventually the party heads out of this room into a dark hallway. They explore further, realizing they are indeed in the lost dwarven thiag of Clan Melairkyn. As they sneak around they suddenly hear footsteps running toward them. They see a dwarf running at them. He yells for them to run. Behind him the party watches as his trailing companion is gripped by something invisible and snatched into the darkness. They hear a crunch, smell blood before they are shoved into a room by the surviving dwarf and the door shuts behind them.
