Transmutation in Material Form

This staff represents the power of transmutation, a fragment of Mystra's spirit coalesced into material form. The city of Talla was founded on the spot this staff appeared to spring forth from the ground of Winderia. It appears as a smooth staff that seems to flux in material construction. The characteristics of the wielder also seem to flash to different races and physical characteristics.
Only a 20th-level wizard devoted to the arcane tradition of transmutation may attempt to attune to this staff. This can only occur after they have gained the approval of Mystra as the next Transmuter of the Eight and wielder of Transience, often by completing a grand quest on her behalf. The staff dramatically increases the wielder's magical capabilities, particularly in the use of transmutation magic. However, the wielder cannot stray too far from the staff or suffer severe consequences.
Once a creature attunes to Transience, the attunement cannot be broken unless the wielder dies or the staff is destroyed.
