Grey Elves

Grey Elves (In Elven: Eldari), are a subspecies of elves that live within the region of Urasmel and the Realm of Goras. They represent a small fraction of elves that did not join in the rebellion of Mathalzar, and were not fully consumed by the Forgotten Divinity after Mathalzar's defeat. The Grey Elves are known for their depressing society and culture. Their tones are serious and somber, with comedy taking no root in their culture. However, they are among the most elite when it comes to art, such as dramatics, painting, and song. They are often regarded as the darker side of Elven beauty, with high and middle elves being the lighter side. Their artwork often is centralized off the night, and the moons, especially the believed forgotten moon, where their kin, the Umbral Elves, are suspected to have been taken.

History

After the failed rebellion of Mathalzar and him accusing Ilal-Bilendiuer of breaking the Oligorus-Kin Pact, the Umbral Elves were to be banished to the void in mass teleportation, controlled by the High Elves. Some of the Umbral Elves, however, begged to Ilal-Bildendiuer to not send them to the void, and so, they sacrificed their young children to him to appease him of their rebellion. He would allow them to stay in Evermist in the region of Urasmel, but lay a curse on their emotions and heart to always be somber and depressed for their actions. The generation that was sacrificed to Ilal-Bilendiuer is known as the "Trespassed Generation", and many Grey Elves believe them to still haunt their land, causing them great agony and restless nights.
