Cave Elves

Cave Elves are a subspecies of elves that live primarily within caves, ravines, and gorges. They are looked down upon by their elven kin due to their choice to dwell underground, an act that the beasts and goblins do. They believe that living in caves helps humble themselves, a virtue they believe their kin to be lacking in. Because of this, they have good relations with outside races. The Cave Elves have been able to create a grand city known as New Soil in a large cave system beneath Urasmel, where most of their population lives. Smaller communities exist branching off of their capital. Cave Elves have taken up the special profession of Cave Soothing, which is the act of singing to the caves in order for them to form crevices, tunnels, and rooms for the elves to live in. The belief is that the Cave Elves somehow are able to sing to the caves, and the caves show their appreciation of their song by adapting to their needs. The Cave Elves fear mining the cave because of this in fear that their song will go unanswered, so they hire dwarven mercenaries to mine the valuable minerals of the caves instead.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Cave Elves are usually extremely pale, with prolonged exposure to sunlight hurting their skin. Because of this, outside their caves, they were special armor to help hide their skin from sunlight. They are partially blind with poor eyesight, causing their eyes to be dull and grey. It is not uncommon for things such as moss or vines to be growing from Cave Elves skin.
