She and Drizdella were on the run from the Black Hand, Illzhat, Supreme Officer, and the Fingers, an extremely dangerous military that acts on behalf of the royal family. Both had to flee when they married since their marriage was against law. Both escaped with the aid of the Numbers organisation. They were able to secure safe passage to Duke of Windsor Manor where they were able to hide from the Black Hand but at a cost.
