Crooked Boughs

This substantial forest lies in between of Downditch Bog and Wormskiss Bog in the Auchland River Basin. It is some 50 miles north from the village of Downditch. There is constant warfare within the Dreadwood, with monsters and settlers battling for existence. Large-scale efforts have been mounted to clear the woods of evil creatures time and again, but the enemy retreats into hidden places and beyond the trees into the trackless marshland, to return when the companies of woodsmen and militiamen retire. It is suspected that the Merchant Princes of Westermarrow are in collusion with certain bandits and humanoid bands who make camp through Crooked Boughs on their way to raid settlers in the Auchland River Basin and Lower Rendlea.
