Personal history
Beyhan, the only son of Princess Taheri Talat and her husband Zar Tokhi, was the first of many children who would be raised by an Ostarian sovereign instead of their parents, as a possible heir. He was perhaps unique in that his mother, the King's sister, was essentially responsible for raising all of the potential heirs, and so he was never really separated from her, nor denied the opportunity to know his biological father who also resided in the household. He was, regardless, most of the time raised alongside the King's own children as if he was simply the fourth of them.
The eldest of the Royal brood was never a standout at anything, but always more than reasonably good at whatever needed doing. To those who were considered knowledgeable in such things, Beyhan was never considered a true frontrunner for the throne, but always the most reliable and steady of the four potential heirs. He was a good military leader, a young officer under his father's rule and one of his sister's top advisors.
Beyhan married fairly young, a younger daughter of a smaller noble house whom he loved dearly, and she bore him a son, but he lost his wife and young son to sickness before his child's third birthday. He did not remarry, nor father any other children, though he was well known for doting on his nieces and nephews, and he did eventually foster a couple of boys whose fathers had been killed in his command, whom for all intents and purposes he treated as sons.
