The Brilliant Empire
The Brilliant Empire, often called simply The Empire, takes up most of the continent of Austra. It is 165,000 m2 in area. It shares the continent with the Principality of Arion, the Free City of Galanthis, and the mysterious island in the middle of Lake Eron. It also shares maritime borders with the Kingdom of Delryn and its own territories the Oskksulian Protectorate, the Principality of Heirin, and the Principality of Staton. The capital is Ostar.
Ostar is the Empire's capital and seat of power, but it's size and population is rivaled by other large cities where there are ports or Noble houses or particular influence. Languages

The Empire is the largest nation which spans many different biomes and includes many geographic landmarks. The main mountain ranges are the Clayband Mountains, the Eaglehelm Range, and the Suncall Mountains . As you travel east the ground flattens and eventually gives way to the large Mourning Desert. On the far east and southeast coasts it is once more hilly, with some forests. The shape of the continent forms many large natural bays and harbors, most notably: Emperor's Bay off of the Luminous Sea, Cleo's Harbor off of the Ash Sea, and Brilliant Harbor off of the Whispering Sea. The deep Wildmouth River connects Emperor's Bay to Cleo's Harbor and is transversable by all but the very biggest ships. These deep, sheltered ports helped make the Empire a naval force to be reckoned with. Little to nothing is known about Eron Lake and the island which lies at its center. No one has ever returned from journeying to the island. Climate and Biomes
Overall, the western half of the continent is mostly grassland, mixed forest, and deciduous forest, with some alpine, arctic, and coniferous forest areas around the mountains. As you travel east grassland becomes savannah, which gives way to desert. On the far east and southeast coasts there is more forest. Generally, the Empire experiences four seasons (Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter) with lows in the 20s and highs in the 90s. The Mourning Desert can reach temperatures meeting or exceeding 125*, with nights dropping into the cool 50s.
The Brilliant Empire is an absolute monarchy, ruled by an Emperor or Empress. Titles of nobility, high ranking positions, and all wealth and privilege are awarded and taken at the whim of the Emperor. Succession, too, is determined based on who is the most favored in the monarch's eyes at any given time. Foreign Relations
The Empire might not currently be at war, but the rest of the world is under no illusion that they are done conquering; relations with Delryn, Arion, the Marches, and Mare'n are tense. The Empire is currently at peace with the two free territories within their borders, Galanthis and Nikandros, but that is only guaranteed to last as long as is convenient for them. The relationship of the Empire to its own vassal nations is good. Economy
The Empire produces most of what it needs within the Empire, and has robust trade with Galanthis and Nikandros. They also do some trade with Mare'n and the Marches. Some of the vassal states do trade with the other nations, but it is discouraged.
