Peninsular War
The Conflict
Prelude
After pushing The Folk South into the peninsula and East past the Wildmouth River during the 13 Years War, the Folk were pretty persistant in their border skirmishes as they tested Ostar's resolve. When Taylan Talat became fed up with the contant irritance of it, he pushed his forces into the peninsula to clear that area for his Kingdom as well.
Battlefield
In the Peninsular War, Ostar cleared the rest of the territory on Austra West of the Wildmouth River that they had not yet conquered, all the way down the peninsula.
Conditions
The conditions for the Peninsular War were harsher - both sides were more prepared for each other, and the Folk were more desperate. There were more casualties and the fighting was more cruel.
Outcome
For a time, peace reigned in Austra and the Kingdom of Ostar after the Peninsular war. All enemies of the Kingdom had been pushed into the Eastern half of the continent, and there was time to focus on building infrastructure and settling a rapidly growing KIngdom. There were few, if any, retaliation attempts from the Folk this time around.
Aftermath
There was little tolerance for deviance amongst the Kingdom. Members of other species were not welcomed as equals amongst the humans, never entirely, and Folk who had been subjugated during the conquest usually felt the need to hide entirely amongst their human fellows. Some members of the The Talat Family also seemed to develop a taste for taking what they wanted.
Historical Significance
Technological Advancement
This war was mainly fought with infantry, cavalry, martial weapons, and magic. Taylan had the advantage of some primitive long-range cannon-type weapons, powered both with and without magic.
