AquaPass Maritime Coalition

Structure

The AquaPass Maritime Coalition is structured with Coalition High Admiral Thalorin Wavecrest overseeing the entire organization. Under his command are Admirals who each manage one of the ten seas: Admiral Seraphina Stormrider controls the Charmed Deep, Admiral Gideon Grimwave commands the Death Wave Sea, Admiral Lysandra Mistwalker oversees the Misty Tides, Admiral Thaddeus Stillwater governs the Motionless Waves, Admiral Petra Ironfist rules the Sea of Plariden, Admiral Elara Ghosttide directs The Ethereal Tides, Admiral Orin Greensea manages The Green Tides, Admiral Roland Tossing supervises The Tossing Waves, Admiral Marlowe Tintwater oversees the Tinted Ocean, and Admiral Valeria Tempest governs the Unstable Ocean. Additionally, AquaPass Coordinators are stationed at major port cities, responsible for the issuance and regulation of AquaPasses, ensuring compliance with the Coalition's regulations and maintaining order at the local level. This hierarchical structure allows for efficient management and control of maritime activities across the vast expanse of the seas.

Public Agenda

To maintain order and peace across the seas by regulating maritime activities through the issuance of AquaPasses. The Coalition claims to protect sailors and merchants from piracy and unlawful behavior, ensuring fair competition and safe travel.

Secret Agenda

The true end date of the Crimson Isle Edict is a closely guarded secret. If revealed, it would undermine the Coalition's authority and potentially lead to the resurgence of The Scarlet Tide, which has the potential to disrupt the Coalition's carefully maintained order and control over the seas. The AquaPass Maritime Coalition works tirelessly to keep this secret, ensuring that their version of peace remains unchallenged.

Assets

Most of the Coalition's assets were commandeered from The Scarlet Tide. These include ships, port facilities, warehouses, and other maritime infrastructure. The Coalition's control over these assets is legally tenuous, as the original deeds of ownership are missing, making it difficult to challenge their claims. The Coalition has effectively taken over many of the former Scarlet Tide's strongholds, repurposing them for their administrative and military needs.   In addition to these commandeered assets, the AquaPass Maritime Coalition has recently acquired a fleet of advanced ships designed by the Rhitersvale Confederation. These ships represent the pinnacle of maritime technology and were purchased to bolster the Coalition's naval capabilities in their ongoing struggle against the Thoredran Federation. Each of these state-of-the-art vessels is maintained by a crew of five autognomes, specialized in repairs and maintenance to ensure optimal performance. Here are the ten new ships:
  1. The Ironwave Sentinel
    • A heavily armored battleship equipped with reinforced hull plating and powerful cannons. Designed for frontline combat and to withstand heavy attacks.
  2. The Ethereal Voyager
    • A sleek, fast vessel with enhanced navigation systems, perfect for reconnaissance missions and swift strikes against enemy fleets.
  3. The Stormrider
    • A weather-controlling ship capable of generating storms to disorient and damage enemy ships, featuring advanced meteorological equipment.
  4. The Deepsea Leviathan
    • A massive vessel equipped with deep-sea exploration gear, used for uncovering hidden treasures and strategic underwater operations.
  5. The Celestial Beacon
    • A light-bearing ship that uses magical luminescence to guide fleets through treacherous waters and dark nights, equipped with powerful searchlights.
  6. The Whispering Gale
    • A stealth ship with sound-dampening technology and cloaking abilities, ideal for covert operations and surprise attacks.
  7. The Tidal Titan
    • A cargo ship with enormous storage capacity and defensive mechanisms, used for transporting large quantities of goods and supplies safely.
  8. The Arcane Tempest
    • A ship integrated with arcane weaponry and defensive wards, capable of casting powerful spells during naval engagements.
  9. The Azure Guardian
    • A patrol ship designed to safeguard important routes and harbors, featuring rapid response capabilities and enhanced detection systems.
  10. The Radiant Seraph
    • A flagship with luxurious quarters for high-ranking officials, equipped with state-of-the-art communication systems and command facilities.
These advanced ships, combined with the Coalition's commandeered assets, form a formidable maritime force. The integration of autognomes ensures that these vessels are maintained at peak efficiency, providing the Coalition with a technological edge in their quest to maintain order on the seas.

History

The AquaPass Maritime Coalition was established in response to the chaotic and lawless conditions that prevailed before the Crimson Isle Edict. The edict, issued by the Pirate Sovereign, aimed to bring order to the seas by creating a structured and regulated maritime environment. Prior to this, the seas were dominated by The Scarlet Tide, a powerful faction known for its influence and occasional pirate activities.   The AquaPass system was introduced to formalize maritime activities and ensure the safety and legality of sea travel. Over time, the Coalition has grown in power and influence, but its legitimacy is constantly under threat from those who seek to restore The Scarlet Tide's former glory. The Scarlet Tide, despite being officially disbanded, still has loyalists who see the AquaPass Coalition as usurpers.

Key Historical Connections

Pirate Sovereign and Governance: The Pirate Sovereign's influence was pivotal in transitioning the seas from the Golden Age of Free Sailing to the regulated era under the Crimson Isle Edict.
Significant Locations: Anchorloft Isle, The Crimson Citadel, and The Crow's Nest Tavern are key locations associated with the Coalition and its predecessors. These places serve as administrative centers, social hubs, and strategic points of control.
Cultural and Linguistic Elements: The use of Pirate's Murmur, a unique dialect, helps maintain a distinct cultural identity within the Coalition. The "Tale of Lost Love" and other cultural documents continue to influence the Coalition's traditions and values.
Organizational Structure and Rivalries: The internal structure of the Coalition, with AquaPass Coordinators at port cities and Admirals overseeing the seas, reflects a highly organized approach to maritime governance. The rivalry with remnants of The Scarlet Tide adds a layer of tension and complexity to the Coalition's operations.

Military

Though not a political body, the AquaPass Maritime Coalition maintains its own navy to enforce its regulations and protect its interests. This navy is used to patrol the seas, combat piracy, and ensure compliance with the AquaPass system. The Coalition's military presence is a significant deterrent against those who would challenge its authority. The Coalition's navy is well-trained and equipped, drawing from the best sailors and warriors from across the seas.

While the Coalition accepts all forms of currency, it has also introduced a form of loan shark banking. This system allows sailors and merchants to take out loans for new ships and other maritime ventures, further entrenching the Coalition's influence over the maritime economy. The Coalition's loan system often traps borrowers in a cycle of debt, ensuring their continued dependence on the Coalition.
