Forest of Beauty
The Forest of Beauty is a boreal forest covering almost a hundred islands, off the north-western coastline in Eudan. The forest is known for its glamour, considered one of the most aesthetically pleasing locations on Osao. The Forest of Beauty frequently makes the No.1 spot on the Top Spots of Osao, a monthly magazine that showcase's the planet's gorgeous landmarks to visit.
Geography, Location & Climate
The Forest of Beauty encompasses 97 islands, ranging in size from about thirteen square metres, to 102,395 square miles. This island chain in itself is referred to as the Forest of Beauty, confusing for those just learning of it.
It famously bridges the gap between Aecotia and Eudan. One of the coldest regions on Osao, the Forest regularly reaches temperatures of around 0 degrees Celsius in the winter. Summer temperatures are around 10 degrees, 15 in extreme cases. Islands in the archipelago are quite hilly, the larger islands displaying small mountain ranges.
History
The first slimes discovered the Forest of Beauty around 20,000 years ago, as theorised by archaeologists. It was the first region explored after some slimes left Aecotia, heading east towards Eudan. The forest was unlike anything slimes had seen before so few people settled, others exploring farther throughout the continent in search of a place more like their old home.
Ecology
Like every other region of Osao, the Forest of Beauty is very diverse. There are over two thousand identified bird species, 69% of which are passerines. The State Bird is the vivan treecreeper, a passerine with two pairs of wings. A handful of other birds in this region have developed a second pair of wings, allowing them to fly and steer through dense foliage at high speeds.
The marine life of the Forest of Beauty is rather impressive, too. Many small cetacean species inhabit the coastal waters, small dolphins and porpoises darting between islands. Almost a thousand species of tropical fish have been identified, although they are much harder to identify since slimes cannot enter the water without protection.
The most common tree species is the precipitating pine. These pine trees have bioluminescent bark and bright pink leaves, as well as a sweet aura surrounding it. Approaching these trees causes an olfactory system overload, which can be lethal in extreme doses.
