Vintners' Guild
As the name implies, this guild is dedicated to the proper technique of creating great wine. The guild is headquartered in The Vinum City and has been for its near 350 years of existence. The guild is headed by the current viscount of Retagas, who is appointed directly by the Triduke Retsil. The city of Retagas is closely intertwined with this guild, and many of the top guild members are also officials in the city.
Structure
The Steward of the Vintners Guild is the highest rank in the Guild.
Directly reporting to the Steward are the Archsomellier.
Below an Archsomellier is Somellier of the Vintners Guild.
And finally, there are the Initiate Tasters of the Vintner's Guild
The organizational structure of the guild is quite strict and there are direct time requirements to advance through the ranks. A member must work as an Initiate Tasters of the Vintner's Guild for at least 3 years before becoming a Somellier of the Vintners Guild.
The Somellier rank is where most may spend the rest of their lives, if they do not have innate talent and drive. To advance past this role usually requires at least 20 dedicated years of work before you have a chance at becomming an Archsomellier.
History
The guild was originally created as a policing organization between the three wine-making family run vineyards of Retagas who had grown hostile towards each other:
