Session 15: Homecoming
General Summary
After recovering from the ambush the party did as adventurers do and harvested the bodies for all they were worth. They took possession of the weapons wielded by the frostbitten humans and processed the crag cats for their meat. On their way back to town they met up again with Martok. They brought him up to speed with their adventures since parting. As they returned to Easthaven they passed by Serafin's house. Serafin broke off to stop by home and noticed something amiss, the front door forcibly opened. With the rest of the party still within earshot they all rushed to investigate. Inside they found a house ransacked, every nook and cranny opened and emptied. Upstairs they found the unconscious form of Serafin's father. They roused him with healing magic and learned what had transpired here recently. While they were travelling the tundra an unnamed human woman came looking for Serafin. She spent some time questioning Tobias. She seemed well acquainted with blades but not overly eager to use them. Luckily he truthfully did not know where Serafin had gone off to, a truth she seemed able to know. Tobias told the party the tale of how Serafin was in actuality the only known living descendant of the Alagondar bloodline. Should she return to Neverwinter with a way to prove her lineage she could claim the throne of Neverwinter for herself. Dagult Neverember, never one to suffer the presence of bothersome claimants to his "rightful throne", has had many people put to the sword who claimed to be the lost heir. He is most likely behind this assassin. While he did not get a name, Tobias did have a very useful description of his assailant. She was a middle-aged human woman with a shaved head and a hook for a right hand. With this as the only ready clue and no leads to go on the party split up to go shopping. Michael and Martok stopped in at the library to do some research, learning a little about a few things, mostly about Yeenoghu and how gnolls come to be. In the morning everyone gathered up to search out the last known location of the missing fisherman, now gone for over a tenday. They travelled in two rowboats up the western coast of Lac Dinneshere. Eventually they found the Bunch o' Knuckleheads adrift amidst ice floes. They began to row to shore but were set upon by a pair of harpies. After fighting them off they pulled the boats ashore where they found tracks leading towards four cave entrances that howled with the wind.
