Personal history
Though Olga was born in 1467 in the spring time, her story begins the previous autumn in 1466. Her father was somehow captured by the Orcs of the Kingdom of Many Arrows. Aged 25 years at the time of capture, they kept Devin captive through the winter and released him at the beginning of spring, after his ransom was paid and it was safe to travel. Olga does not know much about her mother, only that at some point during her fathers' 'stay' with the orcs her mother was impregnated with his child. When he was released he had no idea he even had a child. Needless to say the orcs were not happy when the half-breed was born. She was taken back to her human family as fast as was possible, arriving in the summer handed over with little ceremony and a simple message delivered in Common "She is Olga, she is Devin's child." With that their business was done and they left to return to the kingdom and Devin was left to raise her on his own.
Over the years Olga's grandparents attempted many times to marry off their son, but every attempt blew up in their faces as no noble woman wished to be mother to the half-breed. Devin simply laughed in their faces after each new failure, apparently he knew what they did not. Overall Olga's childhood was typical for a noble child, etiquette lessons, tutors in writing and language, history, and so on, even music lessons, although Olga insisted on learning the bagpipes to annoy her grandparents as much as possible. The other noble kids saw her as different, the only one who ever really accepted her was Esvelle Rosznar, they bonded over shared treatment by the others and became fast friends.
During one of the few times Olga was actually allowed to anything fun her parents let her and Esvelle go on their own during a Festival. While they were moving among the crowds they ran into a travelling Turami Soothsayer who gave an ominous fortune while staring straight at Olga. "Be watchful for the tall Illuskan man and mindful of the quick halfling girl." Neither girl had any idea what the woman meant, but when they looked back to ask a question, she was gone.
As Olga grew she realized that she was maturing much faster than the human children. At age 15 she committed her greatest act of rebellion to date, she joined the Guard, forsaking the tutors the house was paying so much for. She spends six years in service to the Guard. Shortly before the end of her sixth year she decides that she wishes to become an adventurer, and speaks with her Captain about it. She leaves as a Sargent. Only later, after time spent with Gesh's guardians adventuring group, did she learn that she was being considered for promotion to Captain at the time.
Her first attempted foray as an Adventurer she followed a treasure map that turned out to be real. Trouble was, the treasure happened to be a dragon's hoard. The dragon captured her and she was held for three months before a proper group of adventurers killed the dragon and set her free. Among the group was a Tiefling Wizard named Phelaia, who did not want Olga along, but was outvoted by the group, who wished to see the noble's daughter brought safely home. Along the route, at a stop in Helm's Hold, Olga hit it off with another Tiefling named Oriax. Soon after love blossomed between them. However, on arriving back in Waterdeep the Margasters strictly forbade the union. Rather than leave the family, Olga broke it off with Oriax, and probably broke his heart. Phelaia was angered by this, and though the group insisted she not act on it. Still, she swore vengeance if ever we should cross paths again.
