Lauren is a General Surgeon with a husband and two children (a 13yo daughter and a 15yo son).

A wife and mother of two, Lauren spent some time after graduating with her first medical degree as a general practitioner at a local practice. She continued her medical education at the same time and soon completed her schooling to become a general surgeon. She has been working as a surgeon for the past year and couldn't be happier. Her husband is more than happy staying home with the kids, a boy of 15 and a girl of 13, and handling the day to day affairs at the house.

The family is finally going on a proper road trip. Taking the family's fully-loaded minivan out to see the big tourist spots, starting close to home.

While on vacation the apocalypse began... Lauren and her family were at the Serpent Mound when a Zombie attacked the tour group and something happened at the head of the snake... and Dr. Goodman approached it to try and save her family. She was marked by Sehul, godess of the sun and developed divine magic.

Dr. Goodman tried as hard as she could to take her new role as Chosen of Sehul seriously, but was never given very detailed answers during her brief conversations with the deity. She did what she could and was able to jump start the Followers of Sehul, even prompting one young woman to start a quest to become another Chosen.

She found herself traveling with some of the other survivors who were with her at the Serpent Mound during that fateful tour, and eventually they all found their way to Davenport, Iowa, to a Walmart that had been fortified. They made this place their new home... until The Kingdom took over, that is. They were told that they couldn't stay and were given the choice between joining the Kingdom and moving to the capitol, or leaving and continuing to go it alone. They decided that safety was what they had been working towards and to join the Kingdom.

While there Dr. Goodman begins working as a doctor again, and had other duties as a Chosen, even working alongside King Jim (James Cohen) himself to try and "cure" infected individuals by forcibly removing the mark with magic. Sehul did not take kindly to the magic she granted being used in such a way and berated Dr Goodman while she was in a Coma recovering. Jim showed her how to initiate the communication through meditation. Lauren was able to finally explain her position, how she is a Doctor, a healer of people, and if she could not use the gift of magic for that purpose then she did not want it. Sehul was fine with removing her mark, as she already had another Chosen by then, but another deity jumped into the conversation at that point... a deity of healing... Askwa was willing to place a new mark allowing Dr Goodman to continue using divine magic to heal, and even making it easier to do as the divine connection would be to a goddess of healing.
