Personal history

Valencia grew up as an orphan raised by the Order of Alms, a monastic order of the Church of Ilmater. In her preteens Val was accepted as an initiate of the Order, but was expelled just before her eightenth birthday, when she was caught violating the Order's code against self pleasure. Val left Lilth and wandered the world for a time. She ending up meeting an old dying Kunochi, who had been exiled from Shang T'Set, who tutored her in the basics of the eastern art on Ninjitsu.

Val returned to Lilth in her mid twenties, got into a drunken brawl with a soldier from the Royal Dragon Corp and was promptly thrown in jail. A shady noble woman agreed to post her bail if she would ruff up a local street gang who was interfering with her interests. Having no money and little choice, Val accepted. While infiltrating the warehouse the gang used as a headquarters Val met Renard di’Cezare, who had accepted a job from a Bounty Hunter's Guild with the same target. The two got in one anothers way, but ending up having to collaborate to take down the gang. Val questioned why Renard was working as a bounty hunter, as he was clearly a musician with only limited fighting skills, and he confessed he generally worked as an adventurer, but had been unofficially black listed by his ex-girl friend after a messy break up, and could not get a spot in any of the local companies. After learning more about the break up she discovered that Renard had broke things off because his lady had been physically and emotionally abusing him. Something inside her called on her to help him- and the two went to form an adventuring company of their own.

Val and Renard were able to recruit some companions from the pool of adventurers joining the guild who did not know Renard's ex,
