Special abilities
Arcadia developed her Sight early on. Her Flickering Steps became more and more common but uncontrolled until she began studying the tomes she took from The House on Lantern Hill.
The Spellbook she carries has many spells, but Cady has only translated two - Eldrich Bindings and Eldrich Blast. But then, Hermetic Magic isn't meant to be easy.
In the course of her adventures since then, she has developed confidence and skill in her limited magical abilities, and has helped several people across the nation gaining treasures in the process.

Personal history
Arcadia's story begins simply. She was thirteen, having just turned it on Friday the 13th when she began hallucinating. She saw things, strange things. People that weren't people, but monsters masquerading as people. She saw serpent-people, and suddenly knew they saw her too.
She ran to her safe space, the museum. Among its familiar columned halls and tiled walks she almost felt safe. She wasn't. Shadowy things chased her down unfamiliar halls and stairs until she found herself in a storage room. An out of place door at the back grabbed her attention and she went through it, mesmerized by the strange feelings it gave her.
There was a strange sensation of not being but being and she woke up in a basement across the country. In Freedom City. On Lantern Hill. In an old house filled with strange curios from around the world.
Cady called her parents and tried to explain. Obviously her parents had freaked out when she didn't come home days ago. The police were involved by the time she called. But when her mom and dad got there from Arizona, they had calmed down, and Cady had had time to explore the strange house.
Most of her time was spent in the Library where she read old books on metaphysics and things like magic and alchemy. She laughed at some of them but got obsessed when one book began to explain the things she had been seeing.
Her parents arrival interrupted her attempt to perform one of the weird but not entirely creepy rituals in the book. Her father was confused, but her mom was in a strange state. Cady excused herself to grab her book bag, and took the books she had been reading before they arrived, shoving them into her bag.
They went back to Arizona after that incident, and Cady became "the girl who got kidnapped but blocked it out" and by virtue of that "trauma" became a social outcast.
