Oh, who?...that little bastard. We don't talk about him. This son of a bitch is of the First Estate, because of course he'd be Invictus, right? He built a backdoor into one of my feeding grounds and gaslit me into thinking I had been getting blood-drunk and over-indulging. He used my age and preyed on my fears. All for advancement in the Invictus by using my resources. Now he can't, I talked to Mae.

Contacts & Relations
Valerie is a member of the Carthian Movement, but is nearing her 250th deathday. That is not the only contradiction within her. She is young and vital but refined and genteel; she believes in the future the Carthians want, but supports the status-quo. In reality she originally was an invictus plant within the Carthians to control them, but now she serves her covenant without reservation. Her original dichotomy has fallen by the wayside, and the Thorned Wreath is not pleased. She is a revolutionary Carthian but would rather see a democratic change in power held wherein Hiram maintains his Princedom and certain counselors and functionaries are replaced. She doesn't control the Carthians, and instead refines their rough, firebombing ways into socially combative debates that see the staid elders in power lose support and allies. Better to leave them bereft than staked for the sun.
Family Ties
Valerie has family both known and unknown. She also has a string of siblings used, burned and spurned by her Sire and Grandsire, all the way back to Europe. Sometime after 2000, she can't really remember when, she abandoned a ghoul when she realized that she was getting too attached. These three facts are going to bite her in the ass. She may enjoy it, but it will hurt her. Valerie has a Childe that she abandoned shortly after Siring them when her Sire forced her to move to Chicago from Aurora. Valerie's Childe was a handsome man, who has since moved from town to town preying on farmgirls and leaving a string of broken hearts and Dhampyr. Valerie's nearest sibling was in Detroit. Not anymore. Now she has found herself the Lost Childe of Valerie, gathered a "family" of Dhampyr made by the Childe and via Vinculum has made herself a dynastic house acting as her Elder Siblings require. Valerie has heard rumors but hasn't given them much thought - Her Sire said she was his one and only...he didn't lie, did he?
Within Chicagoland, Valerie has a large family known as the Native Succubi among the other Daeva. The Succubi hold an inordinate amount of social clout, more even than the Native Haunts, the Prince's family. She has four Childer, and many more descendants. Lucas was embraced as arm-candy in 1880, in addition to filling some other holes in her life. He was done with his fledgling years in 1910. Her next Childe, Michael, was Embraced for the War effort and she was a distant and cold Sire to him until well after the War ended. Their relationship is still staid and staunted. Evan, her third Childe, was an attempt to get the "Sire-thing" right. Embraced in 1960, Evan was a good-looking young man who brought little to the table, but took to Valerie and Vampirism well. With that, Valerie was done for a while. After twenty years, she Embraced again. This time it was to take a sickly girl who looked about to die, Alice was her name. Valerie used her connections with the mages to heal her from her terminal illness before the Embrace because after all is said and done, they're Spina, not Haunts.
