Who is Ace?
Ace is a Mage: part-time investigator, part-time warrior, full-time troubleshooter. Ace flies in on his plane, spends a few days to a few weeks in a location before moving on having solved the Mystery that brought him there. He works on his own schedule, liasing with locals before beginning his investigation.
Ace is a little "racist" in his beliefs that other Supernaturals have no say in Awakened matters. He's not persuasive enough to topple something like Detroit though, forget about Chicago, so he deals with whoever he must, but only when he must and he gets a little dismissive if they try to delay his efforts.
Ace is a Mysterium mage of the Archeaomancers faction within his Order, with a distinct flair for the Pancryptiates style. He gets a bad rap for his unusual obsession, and has a poor reputation as a kook because of it. Fellow Mystagogues often mock him with Ancient Aliens and Disney's Atlantis memes. Nevertheless, Ace is a dogged pursuer of knowledge, undeterred by the derision of his peers. He dives into the investigations because these Ruins of the Time Before and their Artifacts are the key to understanding what Mages have lost, and possibly how to regain it.
Anymore, Ace is feeling more and more chained down by his time in the libraries, museums, and Athenaea the world over. It seems that, lately, the only time he feels truly alive is when he's in the air, or on an adventure trying to solve an ages-old Mystery.
Ace's Obsession
It seems like Ace is more than a little obsessed with a larger Mystery. All the smaller stories he looks into are lesser versions, fallen remnants of something ancient, something Atlantean. Could his fascination with flight be translated into his obsession? The obvious answer is yes. The Mystery of Atlantean Flight is his obsession.
Ace is obsessed with a Mystery that is present in both Awakened and Fallen legends: the Vimana. In modern times, the Sleepers call the Fallen Mystery some variation of UFOs.
But Ace knows better. He connects stories of UFOs, but not to tales of aliens, instead tying them to ancient stories of the Chariots of Gods from various myths. It is a scary level of obsessiveness, he has a very large murder-board dedicated to figuring out the mechanics and science of Atlantean flying machines. He's added to that board an entire section on how the Fallen myths of India base their Vimana on those machines. And a section of pop culture references and how that proves the knowledge of these machines is still in the Temenos. He has a section which explains how the vimana behave curiously similar to how UFOs fly as described in various sightings, with case notes. He'll argue that someone has the powerful knowledge of Vimana and is using it, based on a Closed Silver Uchronia that happened in Mexico that has been time-wiped out of existence. That or an echo is happening through time from the Fall. Or something else, he's fluid in his theories even though they all sound half-mad. But these stories and those things and the ancient tales ARE related, Ace just doesn't know how.
Appearance
Special abilities
Immediate Nimbus: The Deep Dark Blue
Ace's Immediate Nimbus is an aura of deep, dark blue bespeckled with stars in constellations as they would be if you could see them in the sky. It invokes the wonder of the night sky and makes it nearly impossible to think of anything else, penalizing Intelligence rolls. But leaves a lingering memory of the star map in your mind, aiding in Survival tests.
Mentality
Personal history
In what seems like another life, Ace was a Sleeper. Obviously, right? Well yes, but actually no. Every mage started as a Sleeper, obviously, but Ace is kind of unique. He has zero ties to his past life. He used an ancient spell called Lacuna to sever his Sleeper past from his Awakened present so that his mortal ties could never be targeted. He sometimes, maybe once a year, dons the mask of his old identity as a kind of mundane Shadow Name to protect his Mage persona. In that life he was an Alaskan bush pilot. A strange storm downed his plane, and stranded him in the wilderness. He encountered an Artifact, what he calls The Map. Touching it sparked his Awakening, and he soared among spectral clouds beyond the deep blue to touch the Golden Key and inscribe his location and name into a cosmic light-map.
Since his Awakening, Ace has kept busy. His first adventure began with his Awakening. He began with a broad range of magical ability and a proficiency with Forces Magic. He learned the Ars Magica from
Education
Ace, in his Sleeper life, made it through high school but dropped out of college at 20. He took a pilot's course to better understand the aerospace engineering field he had signed up for and fell in love with flying. When an opportunity came to work for an airline running small groups from the airport to various small towns, he dropped out to take the job.

Wealth & Financial state
Ace is in possession of an Artifact, something he calls The Map. It's weak as far as Artifacts go, being on par with the weakest of the Mysterium's collection. But it is imminently useful for his work. It has three powers that Ace knows how to use: it can shatter illusions (Pierce Deception), shows the location relative to the user of anything that fits in the scale of the map (Locate Object), and tracks sympathetic ties to anything it touches (Correspondence).
Beyond his meager hoard of useful but mundane items, Ace makes a comfortable living from various museums he's on the payroll of.
