• Deeply unnerving


• At one point his family home and everyone in it was under the control of an aboleth. Many people died before some adventurers turned up and defeated the aboleth. Octavian was one of the survivors and was very young at the time and was the person the aboleth had the strongest control over as it was using him as a mouthpiece. It died while still in his mind and some of it never left. Think Redcliffe from DA:O but aboleth instead of demon.


• Thousand yard stare


• People who just meet him or only occasionally interact with him find him very scary and unsettling. People who have known him for awhile realize that he bears no intentional ill will and doesn't intend to frighten people. He just is how he is and often doesn't notice how uncomfortable he makes people


• Flavor-wise a lot of his magic involves warping peoples minds and/or their perception. Examples: Silent image doesn't create an illusion, he's actually messing with people's brains to make them think they're seeing something. Hold person would be him stopping the targets brain from properly communicating with their body.
