A Celebration to Remember

by Opal of the Maw

The Black Spider is dead; the Redbrands, defeated and Phandalin saved.

To commemorate this momentous occasion, a huge celebration was to be held in the Stonehill Inn. Toblin would supply the space and basic brews while Daran supplied hard cider from the Edermath Orchard. All the town would come, bringing food for feasting and instruments for making music.

As the townsfolk danced, drank and filled their bellies, Barry regaled the children of Phandalin with stories of heroism from his childhood. A teetotal, he did not drink a single sip of ale and instead preferred to take the opportunity to inspire the next generation to follow in the footsteps of the heroes of old. After the party had dulled down, he picked up his new friend's lost clothing upon strewn about the hallway and hung them up on their doorknobs as he made his way back to bed alone. The next morning he woke up, had an early breakfast and prayed.

Arvard drank his fill and displayed his masterful swordplay by allowing villagers to hurl fruit and food his way so he could slice them with his blade before they would hit the ground. Between impressing the townsfolk and downing beer he flirted tirelessly with the beautiful, redheaded barmaid he had his eye on prior to leaving on our adventure. Sometime after midnight he disappeared with her to the darkness of his inn room. The following morning he slept in with his new lady friend and enjoyed a rest after such a heavy ordeal.

Cu Culain mesmerized the crowd with his musical prowess and led the song and dance. He eyed the sweet widow, Qellin, and spent most of the night dancing with her. After a while, Qellin asked another village mother to take care of her son that night and allowed Cu to sweep her off her feet. He followed her back to her home where he spent the night there. In the morning he woke to her making him breakfast. He stayed with her during the morning and returned to his friends much later.

Vogen drank a plenty in the corner of the inn pub. His brooding charm intrigued one of the bartenders and a barmaid. Unlike his usual self, he invited them into conversation which led to a very subtle, yet effective, seduction. Both barmaid and tender quietly slipped away to his room and shared his bed that night. In the morning, even Vogen was surprised at how chaotic his tryst turned out. His room was in absolute shambles; both lovers were still naked and passed out at the foot and head of his bed. The man was fast asleep in a half-eaten cake and the woman was cuddling up to the carcass of a roasted chicken. Food, cups and plates were thrown around the floor amidst puddles of wine and food. Leaving the two to sleep, he cleaned himself up, dressed and went to fetch some water. On his way there he heard Opal throwing up and offered her a glass. She accepted and he returned to attend to those still sleeping in his bed.

Opal, began the night shyly flirting with Daran while slowly getting more and more inebriated. For once, she let a little loose and allowed herself to embrace the party. She danced and let loose a thaumatergy spell, lighting the room with iridescent sparkles and strobes. Opal made passes at Daran, who politely rebuffed her out of respect for her person, but she ultimately prevailed when she left the party, walked upstairs and threw her outer robe to the ground. Daran, unable to hold back further, downed his drink and followed her into her room. The next morning, Opal woke alone in her bed with a pounding headache. A note, written by Daran was left on her bedside. It read that Daran accepted that sometimes you just need to live in the moment and he wished to respect her once again. He again wished to see her about the Iron Gauntlet soon. Opal, slightly disappointed, hid the note and vowed to forget about the night before lest she embarrass herself for a man again. Vogen knocked on her door with a glass of water. She accepted and crawled back into bed to sleep off her hangover.
