We were to speak with several of the farming families around Erta. They held a particular kind of power: they supplied the region with food, and having their goodwill on our side meant we had a lot of political power.

The Calveys

First was Martin Calvey and the Calvey family, the closest to the Bear Forest and Grim Ben's encampment. We offered a place on an economic council, in order to establish a department of agriculture -- much like the House of the Commune, or honestly the Stronghold. the family farms wheat and maize

While talking to Martin, I spied a webbed tattoo on his left arm, hidden under a sleeve.

Martin confirmed that they sell their excess grain directly to port in the west.

He recommended for the council to meet on harvest's eve, in three weeks time before the wheat is ready.

The Dineens

Seamus Dinneen farmed potato, carrots, and leeks with his dwarven family. Their dairy was note-worthy for being fed exclusively with Preda bulgar wheat. Seamus was very keen on the meeting, and jumped at the idea.

Preda family is the closest thing to nobility, with their premium crops of bulgar wheat.
