After thanking the bears -- one of whom joined our part under Lily's guidance -- we returned to Erta to turn in.
Venrick began to ask around, about Habaz and Verdant. Both were members on Erta's council, and both held some sway.
Gotta Have Faith
At Tiberius' request, Rick brought him to the temple at the entrance of town. Tiberius explained that he had come face to face with a god. On entrance, the champions found a quiet spot in back to listen in on the ongoing service.
"Everyone, please rise," the religious leader began in prayer. As he continued, Tiberius struggled to figure out whom the temple was dedicated to -- no visible iconography, no gods named.
After the service had concluded, Tiberius offered supplication to Pharasma. His faith gave him something, an answer. We were asked to leave, and I checked the doorway for sigils. There was something, a path 'tween two mountains, and a triangle inverted inside a circle.
A sigil! I immediately added the marks of the Seven, one line split into seven more. "Thank the light!"
Tiberius looked on, very confused.
As we returned, Lily was learning the lay of the land: the row of abandoned forts between Erta/Trenventari and Ragnall, and of a mine two days' north that could be infested. The mine collapsed, and the contractors left. Whomever was left over kept the mine open themselves (coal mine), until the ghouls began to show. This all "excited" Tiberius, since Pharasma had something to report on the undead.
Curie returned later, having spoken to Habaz about the stars and something going on in the skies.
Venrick took a walk, on her way back dealing with quizzical townsmen: on why we had all been exiled to Erta.
We corroborated, rested, and called it for the day
Stonewall
The next day (afternoon, really) found us back at Grim Ben's fort. We were ushered inside, and met with Ben. He offered us food, sharing a nice brunch in the center of the fort across several picnic tables.
I still didn't trust Ben and his crew, so Tiberius took lead. They were eager to purge the nearby mine of its ghastly infestation.
And so were we.
