It's been a few weeks since I separated from Professor Tycho's Traveling Troupe of Terrors and Titillations, and I finally remembered to write about my adventure in this journal. Really there was nothing exciting enough to write about before now. All of the entries would have been about how much I miss the carnival and the family. And I do. This is harder than when I left The Forest of Wyrms. Probably because my warren hated me and my wings. Being on the road alone is lonely. I miss TInkerstitch the most. She is so wise and sweet. I miss the sounds of the night. My family snoring, Tinkerstitch working away on a project, the monkeys chittering... I miss riding my unicycle and playing my hurdy-gurdy in the parade, I miss the laughter and the clapping. I miss my fighting pit and being the face. I miss the smell of Ridley's Sour Kraut, I miss Alistair's cooking... I miss it all. I hope leaving them will be worth it. If I can win that wish in Beregost, I can make everything right. Or, if I can meet a big guy and become their friend, maybe I won't have to be afraid ever again.
I arrived in a new town and was told I had to register because I'm a Kobold. Apparently this town doesn't trust kobolds. I can't blame them for that. Neither do I. I went to the place they told be to go and they gave me about a million zillion papers to fill out! While I was there I met a grumpy guy. He looks super cool. I don't think he's as grumpy as he wants people to think. Guess what? It turns out the grump knows my old partner, Harrow! And Harrow was there too! Seeing him again made me feel a little less lonely. The guards said they wanted us to do a job for them, so they put us in a room with two other people. One was a Blueish purpleish wolf man who smells like a wet dog and cheap tobacco by the name of Chill. The other was a human looking guy who looked all super eager named Zachary. Oh! Turns out the grump is Harrow's friend Eloi! The one he was searching for while he was with the carnival. I'm so happy he found him.
Anyway, this job they asked us to do was to look into some recent murders and robberies. They were too afraid to do it themselves and wanted people they didn't care about to do it. Shady of them, but they did offer us 100 gold each and I really need the money to get to Beregost. We talked to some survivors and one of them said the murders were done by a man, some kobolds, (go figure,) and a dragon! Well this news excited me because I'd really like to know a dragon. When he described it though, it didn't really sound like it was an actual big guy though. Maybe a baby big guy. We followed some tracks to a ruined building. I went in first and got attacked by a bunch of kobolds. (Again.) I got really hurt. We won in the end though. We kept going and found a room with more kobolds, a man, and a drake. So it wasn't a big guy at all. More of a mini guy. We won, but at a terrible cost. Harrow died! I'm so sad, but not as sad as poor Eloi. I'm going to have to watch out for him from now on.
