Animosity

by Xin Chi

Grandfather,

Chang is unbearable, he's boorish, rude, uncouth, forces lectures upon us when we do not ask for them, and attempts to cosy up when he wants something from me. He's also friends with the Regent of Hallenfell, which is no surprised because that guy is also a prick. I'm also pretty sure he's got a crush one of my group members Idris, not that I blame him - Idris is a work of art but not really my type.

But back to my semi-regular update, we picked up an Nyxian and got rid of our Half-Dragon. Can't say I care for the change, I find the Alchemist more useless in combat than I ever did with Zendar. Mutagens may be useful, but their drawbacks are detrimental. Juvar also discovered that his aid to the rebellion also involved transporting bombs for them - which I'm sure brought back wonderful memories of when he got blown up by explosives. We gained the Nyxian after Juvar sold Zendar into servitude and claims it was to get information from the inside.

With that, we left to meet up with my darling brother Chang of which I'm still rather annoyed that you didn't inform me that he was in the area - you do know how rare it is for our family to end up in the same region together if we're not on the island. We met him at Fort Khodmi, where he had just been kicked out of the inn for being boorish. Luckily, the innkeeper was nice enough to let him back in after I promised to keep him in line and that he'd pay double for all his drinks. We made small talk for a short while, before he retired, and I eventually dragged myself to talk to him while drinking - because T'Sifa knows I need alcohol to put up with his lectures. He questioned me on what I'd been doing for a past decade, and I asked him about the origins of a Tattoo that belonged to Anajilsa which if you do not know is an Ancient Order of Assassins which may or may not be after me (they are after me but we've defeated more than a few of them so I'm not sure what all the fuss is about) - to which Chang conceded that perhaps current events is a more interesting research topic than dead... I mean lost civilisations. I then showed him a relic I had found, he proceeded to lecture me before then asking me for it - of course I refused, and then he asked me to put it in my will for him so this is my declaration now that if I am to pass it goes to the twins. He called the twins dunces by the way.

After the night passed, and Chang rudely woke me up, we set off to the ruins. The journey wasn't too bad, Chang brought up something that reminded me of the time I broke his nose when I was two hundred and something. Although I made a joke about me doing it again if he tried to marry me off yet again but he looked... sad. I'm not sure I understand why, unless he's got something 'amazing' lined up and I've just ruined his plans - well, that does sound like Chang. He also called Ling a disappointment, I'm not sure why as documenting Pirates is an important task.

You never mentioned you knew the Emperor and that the location of these ruins was given to you by him five months ago, and then Chang had the location double confirmed by the Regent of Hallenfell. I suppose that the connections our family has knows no limits.

Just as we arrived at the ruins, we were met by a group of bandits who turned out to be assassins (they were't that hard to defeat), and Chang didn't help in the fight at all. He sat there and just drank his wine while checking out Idris, and if he tells you that I shot two of his favourite wine glasses - he's a liar.

Much love,
Xin

P.S. Chang is also jealous that you check up on me and not him <3
