Morality

by Xin Chi

Grandfather,

What is Morality? How does Morality define us? How do we come to the morals we have? Is it our nature that shapes our morals or is it nurture? A war brews between the downtrodden and the nobility, but would the downtrodden feel the same way if they were on the opposite side? If they had the power and they were the ones subjugating those beneath them would they have the same views?

A war between the rich and the poor has one thousand issues, and I fear that all the consequences I pointed out will come to pass. It's happened before, and you know as well as anyone that history is doomed to repeat itself. To free yourself from subjugation is one thing but is a slippery slope to become the "subjugater" yourself. The power void doomed to follow as well... it's not something they'll be equipped for, and the fact most of their able-bodied men and women will be hurt, injured, or dead leaving a gap in the workforce which will lead to poverty, plague, and death. But what do I know Grandfather? I'm only an eight hundred and something-year-old historian.

Much Love,
Xin
