Almacia

by Legacy

I spoke with Almacia today in passing. It was a brief conversation, however, between her insults to my intelligence she informed me of a drowish nature. She tells me that every drow is born selfish and scheming. While I acknowledge the harm that stereotypes can cause, it surprised me to hear the words come out of the mouth of a drow. I brought up Cicero as a contrary to her racist claim. Surely he would be solid proof but she dismissed it immediately. I merely didn’t know his angle. I misunderstood his intentions. It is almost charming, if not infuriating. how she has the ability to criticize every word that leaves my mouth. “He’s just like the others” she says, though I don't want to believe her. I didn’t bother to bring up Amore. As a spymaster schemes and tricks sound right up her alley. But I can’t shake the feeling that something isn’t right. Almacia is a cruel simulacrum of a woman, she openly embraces the culture that she accused Cicero of without any remorse, and yet I find myself drawn to her. There is strength in her indifference, there is a charming arrogance to her insults. I love Cicero, but I cannot think of why she would bother lying about this, she has nothing to gain from my distrust of him. I want to believe she is a liar, that she is bluffing just to scare me for some reason, I want to believe that he is not what she says and yet she is here sleeping on the ground next to me. Cicero is not.
