This tower has almost completely collapsed, although the ground floor still has a little open space. Rotting crates and ancient barrels show that provisions were once stored here. A heavy curtain blocks a crumbling area to the south, and an intact door leads east. To the north, a short passage through the rubble ends before a screen of canvas.
Exploring some more, we find a collapsed section of wall by the southeast tower. Wick climbs up and sends his mouse through the small hole there. There's apparently something scary in there, because Bitty comes scurrying back out almost immediately and hides in Wick's hair.
A stone brazier full of coals glows in the middle of this small barracks. Four straw pallets are lined up along the east wall. The wall to the south has collapsed, but a barred wooden door in that direction is still clear. A curtain hangs in an archway to the north.
There's a couple of hobgoblins waiting for us; one runs for help. The other is easily dispatched (thanks in large part to Forgrim invoking the power of Moradin to assist my shot), then we all gather around the one who ran, killing him with equal ease.
In the tower room to the east we find King Grol, a wolf, an unconscious dwarf, and a drow. After a brief, unsuccessful parley, Grol slits the dwarf's throat and drops him. I start shooting, doing a significant amount of damage to Grol, thanks again to the blessings of Moradin. (At this rate, I may have to do more than make donations at temples - Moradin clearly thinks highly of Forgrim's choice of companions, to keep assisting me like this!)
Defeating the three, Forgrim heals the dwarf, who turns out to be the missing Gundren. The others search the bodies and the room, but I need some fresh air. It's not a tree, but the pile of rubble just outside makes a decent perch.
In the middle of the night, a group of hobgoblins with a pair of wolves approaches the entrance near where we're trying to sleep. I manage to down one of the wolves as it starts sniffing around, but that (of course) alerts the rest of the group to my presence. Luckily, I'd already alerted my companions, so they're also ready as the group heads toward us.
It's not quite as easy to defeat the hobgoblins (the wolves are downed quickly, but our spellcasters are out of spells), but one of Wick's spells goes weird and summons a rainbow unicorn, who both takes the hobgoblins' attention from us and manages to kill the leader and injure the other enough for my arrow to kill it. Either way, it was a great help in the battle.
