Pat the Cat
Baron Incumbent Patrick Rexavius Mortencia, II (a.k.a. Pat the Cat)
Born to a human mother and father, Pat the Cat is the product of a generational curse put upon his Great Grandfather on his mothers side. Baron Penile Pantomime XXVI had many sexual dalliances with the local ring of wenches, but made the mistake of impregnating Slippery Maggie, of the River Wenches. Maggie attempted to get the Baron to accept the child as his, but he denied them and cast them out from their borders. Maggie placed a pox upon the Baron, a curse to wither his bloodline until it no longer existed. This curse was ignored and forgotten, and Maggie died alone and unknown by a river. Nothing is known about Maggie's bastard child, or what became of it, as The Baron actively ensured that any information regarding Maggie and her child was lost to time.
Generations later, this pox came to fruition when the Lady Zeldanthia Rexavius Mortencia XVII (From a long line of known philanderers) stepped from her marriage and took a local Riverboat captain, Ol'George, to her bedchambers. This tryst activated the Pox, the result of which, was Pat the Cat.
Pat is for all purposes a human male, but a cat. He can speak and is capable of all things humans are (such as riding a horse, shooting a crossbow, swordplay or standing upright and walking, etc.). The only thing he cannot do is breed with humans, although he is able to breed with other cats, but as so far this has only produced normal cats. Thus, the Pox came true in quite the ironic way, as his bloodline will die with him.
He's rich in coin (as he is Baron Incumbent of the Rexavia Barony, of Dunnywild), but humble, as being a cat has made his life difficult. He was well liked by the citizens of the Barony, but he wished for more than his sleepy little corner of the lands. Maybe due to his feline nature, Pat was an explorer and scholar at heart, and thus journeyed out into The World at large to learn everything and see everything. Although his mother Zeldanthia worries about her son, she is content knowing he is happy in his life.
Pat the Cat is authoring the magical live tome "The World Compendium", where he gathers all the knowledge of The World he obtains on his adventures. It is magically linked to all copies of the Tome that exist in Ávra, which update their pages as he does. Through this living compendium, he hopes to educate The People of Ávra, and eventually learn what caused The Shatter, and what came before The Great Migration. Pat has been able to sell copies of his Compendium far and wide and is a passive added source of income for any groups he travels with. As is his style.
