Southwall
Southwall
Southwall, also known as Fort Hope, is a large defensive fortress built along the western branch of the Fenfall river. It was constructed during the early days of conflict between the kingdoms of the Lakeland region and those of the Spirit Fens to protect from invasion. Fort Hope, one of two key locations in repelling the First Dragmar Horde. Located on the Lower Fenfall River, just north of where it joins the Invertit River, it still maintains its presence as a defensive outposts, years of relative peace have caused area around the fortress to develop into a thriving trade hub.
Since the invasion, the Eastern Nomads do not allow anyone, including themselves, to build on the central plains. They believe, and to some extent rightly so, that it is far safer to not allow large groups of people to gather in one place, so as to keep Dragmar from manifesting in response to tragedy striking. While perhaps they act from an over abundance of caution, they have kept a tight check on Dragmar activity, effectively preventing any incursions to the western Humans lands.
Fort Hope is one of three concessions to this rule. It and its sister fort, Fort Dread, existed long before the first invasion, and because of their defensive and strategic importance, they were left in place.
Southwall is among the more tolerant of places when it comes to the other races. A steady stream of Ankhana pass through as they exit the Makhvi Jungle, along with humans from the great plains. Though somewhat more rare, even the occassional Fulmin and Kar'chari have been known to pass through, thanks to its river access to the sea.
