Will Joyce's younger brother, Jack is a recent transplant to Bright Falls, having moved to town with Will from Riverport, MA a few years back. He has spent most of those years recovering from a severe illness; although he doesn't seem to be totally over it, suffering from migraines and low energy. Nonetheless, he remains convinced that in time he will overcome it.
Jack doesn't like to answer questions about his past, usually changing the subject when it comes up. He insists it has little bearing on who he is now, but when pressed, he will sketch out a rough-and-tumble life abroad in Asia before Paul Serene called him back to the States in 2016.
Jack seems to have his brother's inclination for physics, but much of his knowledge is more qualitative and intuitive rather than mathematical and theoretical. Jack also has more social skills than Will, but he can sometimes come off as creepy and alien.
In town he works at the bookstore with Paul.

History

As kids, Jack and Will were close, but as they grew older they drifted apart. Will became Jack's legal guardian when their parents died, but it was not a role he was suited for, especially as Will threw himself completely into his work. Jack ended up raising himself, but nonetheless he and Will were on decent enough terms right up until Jack found out that Will had sold the family house left to both of them.
Six years after their falling out, Jack came home to Riverport to see Paul Serene, and he learned the secrets Will had kept from him for nearly two decades. Jack and Will repaired their relationship, and now the two are extremely close.
