Chapter 1

On Our Own

General Summary

What a Ship! With a ship like that, if we took it...whew! We could take that and be on our own!
Kirana Whitesun, on seeing Last Hope

The Story

Zimex Tuzuto took a job from a representative of Black Sun, a criminal syndicate. He botched the stealth re-entry portion of the job and the Imperials began to pursue him. He ditched the cargo to speed into Taris and lie low in the undercity. He hid in cantinas and disguised himself for the better part of two days as the clone troopers tightened the search. Finally, he chose to sneak out by disguising himself in an ingenious way - he beat the shit out of himself until he was unrecognizable, and limped through the alleyways and side-streets.

Nammee Vei and Zel Chiyo were young padawans that barely escaped the Jedi Praxeum on Taris. They hid in alleys in the undercity. When a badly beaten Mirialan stumbled past them, Nammee and Zel helped him escape the undercity with a tacit agreement that if they got the man out, he would take them with him. Using Nammee's precognizant perception and keen intuition they timed their escape perfectly and meandered through several rough areas unscathed. Every movement was either guided by the strange dream foretelling she had awoken from, or by her own strange intuition as she led them to a walking bridge overlooking the cargo caravan canyon near the bombed out Jedi Praxeum.

Axelmos Honors and Kirana Whitesun were dishonorably discharged for "ethical issues" and their back-pay was withheld. They chose to drink what savings they had and find a way off-world. After a night of drinking and partying, the two were staggering back when they crested the footbridge by the old Jedi Praxeum and saw Nammee, Zel, and Zimex kneeling before them. Kirana took charge and assumed command of the entire group and asked about transport. Zimex told them about The Freighter and they set off, once more guided by Nammee's intuition but this time combined with Kirana's boldness.

The party of five manage to make the trip unmolested to the hangars and managed to get the ship out of its mag-lock and ready it for a hasty takeoff just as Clone Troopers burst through the hangar doors. The Freighter flies swiftly and Axelmos works with Zimex to fly the behemoth out safely and outmaneuver the Empire long enough for Nammee to calculate a hyperspace jump to a place she foresaw in a dream - coordinates where no planet should exist.

Meanwhile, on the planet Anaxes, the Republic appears to have pulled all of its forces off-world. All that is left at Fort Anaxes is one mechanic who took some extra time to fix a few weak welds at the supply depot. By the time she left the supply depot, the team she had been out with had left, taking the vehicle with them. Brexia Breishon, the aforementioned mechanic, had to push a repulsor sled along the road back to base. When she arrives a full shift late, the base is abandoned. Comms and most of the base's equipment are gone, only a faulty sensor system and some old supplies are left, in addition to a small memorial apparently dedicated to her... But determined to survive, Brexia sets about making a survivable base of operations. She forages, rebuilds the necessary systems and tries to stay alive. Ultimately though, she is alone on a dangerous jungle planet.

When The Freighter arrives at Anaxes, all is as Nammee dreamt it would be. When a Dreadnought Class Heavy Cruiser crests the horizon, Kirana begins to dream, Axelmos wonders at the opportunity, and Zimex sees a large target.

Nammee declares that this is their destination, and the group begins to prioritize. They see a sign on the ground that someone is on planet and needs help. Kirana wants to take to the ground first but Zimex brings up their low fuel and suggests that the capital ship may have some. The group agrees and they enter into a truly strange place.

The Dreadnought is crewed by Clones, as per usual, with one major difference: they've been out of the fight for a year and have no clue the war is over. The Clones and crew have been jumping through space and had not had their inhibitor chips activated. They had never heard Palpatine's announcement, they didn't know about the Republic or the Empire or even that the Clone Wars had ended. Nevertheless, Kirana took command and began prioritizing repairs to the ship and dealing with everyone that wanted to leave it. Then the group made the first of many supply runs - this one down to the planet.

Brexia saw the ship approaching and gathered all of her supplies, ransacking the base for anything and everything. When the freighter landed, she was sitting in her rebuilt A-A5 speeder truck waiting for pick up. They decided to include her in their band of misfits, as disillusioned as she was with this new "Galactic Empire".
