Jayavashi
Jajavashi is a small nation in the north of Bashai and one of the last remaining states in southern Kashura still putting up a fight against The Morya Sultanate.
While the north of Bashai has historically been one of the less densely populated parts of the region, this has changed since Jayavashi became a refuge for those fleeing from war and persecution in The Morya Sultanate.
The Capital of Jayavashi is Valagamba.
Valagamba renamed itself to Jayavashi, or “Refuge”, and openly declared that it would not only oppose all attempts of The Morya Sultanate to further expansion, but also serve as a refuge for all those fleeing from persecution, religious or otherwise, within the Sultanate.
Since the creation of The Conflux Tripact in 20 SF, the two nations have been cooperating and coordinating in their shared goal of containing The Morya Sultanate.
*While The Aastha Abayadi too is an accepted religion within Jayavashi, public sentiment towards the faith isn’t exactly positive. As a result most of its practitioners tend to be part of the more accepting sects of the faith and practice in private.

Territory:
As of 32 SF, its territories stretch from the southern end of The Garuda Highlands in the east, to the north-eastern coast of The Gulf of Anula. It contains most of The Emerald Throne in the south and stretches through the plains around Valagamba up until the highlands in the north. Thanks to its defensible location, Jayavashi has been able to harass and hamper The Morya Sultanates attempts to exert full control over The Gulf of Anula, even though their forces are heavily outnumbered. The Capital of Jayavashi is Valagamba.
Government:
While Jayavashi used to be a merchant republic in the past, this has changed since the incursion of The Morya Sultanate into the region. Currently Jayavashi is governed by The Pragnavata or simply “The Home Council”. It consists of various representatives from Jayavashi itself as well as most of the old nations of Bashai which were conquered by The Sultanate. The change occurred in order to better address the needs of the new and rapidly increasing population, though there is of course still friction between the new arrivals and the native population, and the council must regularly skirt around old rivalries and feuds to maintain cohesion in the face of the enemy.History:
Jayavashi is really only known by that name since the invasion of The Morya Sultanate into Bashai around 5 SF, being known as “The Republic of Valagamba” before then. It did not find itself at war with The Sultanate until 12 SF and was at first intent on maintaining peaceful relations with the emerging power. Their attitude shifted in the following years from both seeing the masses of refugees arriving at their gates and hearing the stories they had to tell about life within The Sultanate, until they eventually declared war in 12 SF.Valagamba renamed itself to Jayavashi, or “Refuge”, and openly declared that it would not only oppose all attempts of The Morya Sultanate to further expansion, but also serve as a refuge for all those fleeing from persecution, religious or otherwise, within the Sultanate.

Culture & Society:
As a nation that claims to be holding onto the values and traditions of Bashai which The Morya Sultanate is seeking to destroy, Jayavashi does of course incorporate many of those values:Multiculturalism:
While Bashai might be dominated by The Zoltai Strain, the region has historically been influenced by many different cultures, ethnicities and belief systems which have managed to coexist and evolve besides one another for thousands of years.Religious Tolerance*:
Interreligious acceptance remains strong in Jayavashi and the open practice of most faiths is tolerated and accepted, so long as it does not cause the harm of other people.*While The Aastha Abayadi too is an accepted religion within Jayavashi, public sentiment towards the faith isn’t exactly positive. As a result most of its practitioners tend to be part of the more accepting sects of the faith and practice in private.
Laws & Institutions:
The Laws around Kashura generally don’t vary all that much from one another, murder and theft is pretty much illegal everywhere for instance, this section will therefore focus only on the noteworthy:Slavery:
Slavery is practiced in Jayavashi just as much as in most other places in Kashura. It is usually a punishment inflicted upon criminals and prisoners of war, though it is not uncommon to find people that sell themselves to afford their family a better life. While slavery is supposed to be limited to a period of 30 years, there are no laws dictating this and the direct terms are usually determined by the individual contract.Major Settlements:
Valagamba - In the past 2 decades, Valagamba’s population has almost doubled to a staggering 55.000 people, most of the new population consisting of refugees from southern Bashai. The Population of the city consists mostly of Zoltai, though there is also a sizable minority of Wildkin. Valagamba is home to The Gunaya Malgadevi or “The Temple of the four-fold Path”, the largest still standing house of worship dedicated to The Yazatavi, specifically the four Elemental Titans. The main industries of Valagamba are shipbuilding, medicine and raiding of Morya convoys.Jayavashi
