The Thaamiri Desert
Located in the center of southern Kashura, The Thaamiri Desert, as the name suggests, is a dry desert bordered by The Suna Mountains in the south, The Kashtu Highlands in the north-east and The Garuda Highlands in the north-west. While the desert itself was mostly poor in resources (until recently), the surrounding mountains were always rich in precious metals and gemstones, which allowed many nomadic clans in the region to flourish and make a name for themselves as great merchants.
Despite this though, the overwhelming majority of the region's population has settled along the Banks of The Khoona River, for while money is nice, access to water really is non-negotiable if one wants to survive. With and following The Starfall, strange deposits of a blue-ish, faintly luminescent metal were found in The Thaamiri Desert surrounded by craters of warped-looking glass. While the Glass itself turned out to be a valuable curiosity, it was the metal that turned out to be the true prize, as it turned out that the metal was supernaturally light, flexible, easy to forge and blades made from it could cut through weapons and armor made from other materials like butter. The Metal would later come to be called Aakaakirach, or “Shards of Heaven”.
So far, The Morya Sultanate is the only state with access to this material, and they heavily regulate its distribution. Many theorize that it was this material which allowed the sultanates rapid expansion in the last 3 decades.
