Meralia

An ancient city, once inhabited by the Merfolk, Meralia was a symbol of power and the seat of the rulers of the Merfolk. It was protected by three Kraken who swore fealty to the so-called Sea Emperor of the Merfolk. Unrest gripped the city after the devouring of Eadro by Tiamat. It was then that the Aboleths emerged, feeding on the fear of the people, they enslaved them and turned them against their guardian Kraken and the Sea Emperor. It was the first city to be destroyed by the Aboleth and it is rumoured that it is still inhabited by all kinds of Aberrations.
In its prime, the city was said to have spires which broke the waves above, constructed using magic and with the assistance of the Triton.
The city itself was located along the edge of the Abyss, long before Aberrations had appeared in the world.

Purpose / Function

Meralia was the centre of the ancient Merfolk civilization and was home to every species which lived beneath the waves. Its name is still spoken today on land in reference to the mythical power it possessed as the heart of its civilization.

Alterations

Much of the city is now rubble, with the ancient spires which once broke the waves above the city having all fallen into the depths below.
